"I signed up for classes with Shabnam in July of 2022 to learn the art of bellydance in an all women setting, since the description under her courses states that it's a "women only" class, and as a woman, I felt more comfortable learning bellydance in an all women environment. Shabnam was mean to me on various occasions. She constantly tried to put me down and at one point raised her voice at me. I felt discriminated against but I kept signing up for classes for my love for the dance and the community. After a year of taking classes with Shabnam and months of training and practicing, she had the audacity to ask me if I were a transgender, implying that I'm an intruder or somehow didn't belong in her class. I was born a woman and my identity has never been questioned in my entire life! I look more feminine that she does. I had bought the custom for the performance, which she urged us to do, and spent money on alterations, jewelry and make up, in addition to signing up for additional rehearsal classes, only for her to make me feel extremely uncomfortable a day before the performance. I decided to make this public review because I would hate for another woman to experience what I experienced with Shabnam."
