"Beyond the Board and their events helped me find community. I’ve always wanted to learn to skateboard but found myself too shy to practice around others. Once I found @viberidela & @beyondtheboard, I instantly felt like I belonged and that learning is just a part of the process. Brandon & leadership create such a welcoming community that is hard to find anywhere else. Everyone in the group is encouraging and meets up because of the common interest: skating, being outside, & meeting like-minded individuals. I met some of my closest friends because of this group. I skate everyday and feel more confident riding around than I ever have. From day one when I could barely get on the board, to now where I’m at the front of the group roll outs, I feel like I belong and what more can you really ask for. What I love about each event is that there are often activities planned to help everyone get to know each other and play outside. These introductions and games make beyond the board events unique to others I’ve experienced. Sometimes there’s live music & pizza, and there’s always dancing. Plus, there are always people (including Brandon) happy to give you tips & lessons on skating which is so helpful when you’re learning or just trying to broaden your skills!"
