Reviews of Movement Rx Physical Therapy
"In the early days of the pandemic I was feeling isolated and came across the Movement Rx M2 Experience (mindfulness and movement experience). I joined the 21-day challenge primarily for something to do with all my new unwanted free time and in the hopes of finding something to help with the COVID anxiety I was experiencing. After the 21-days passed, I became a member because I found that the mindfulness, meditation, and movement were helping in ways I never expected and wasn't necessarily looking for, and I also found a "tribe" of people who were experiencing many of the same things and were there for support and accountability. I've never had a need to do PT in the past and wasn't anticipating that being part of what I would get from my Movement Rx experience. As I became more active, however; I developed some concerning issues that my PCP wasn't seemingly all that concerned about and not much help in addressing. In working on general things in an attempt to help alleviate issues with numbness and pain and giving it time, it became clear that something else was going to be necessary. I followed a suggestion to try virtual PT and my symptoms have now nearly disappeared after following a daily movement and PT regimen. After my experience with my PCP I thought the pain and numbness issues may just have to be something I would have to find a way to live with, but those at Movement Rx take the exact opposite approach -- Pain is common but not normal, and figuring out what is causing the pain and addressing that can make a difference. It certainly has in my case, and continuing to work on my mobility and strength is only going to be more beneficial to me. Since I don't have any previous experience with physical therapy I can't say for sure, but I expect the approach I've experienced over the past 8 or 9 months with MRx is not the norm in the industry. I have, and will continue to recommend Movement Rx to people in my life because it works."
"New to CrossFit. I needed to rehab from 2 herniated discs (L4/L5/S1 area) from a combination of poor movement and mixed running. Couldn't stand for longer than 5 minutes without the onset of pain and numbness down my right leg for months. Within a few sessions (over a couple of months) with Marissa at Kearny Mesa Movement Rx I was showing improvement with pain/numbness reduction and began building strength in the surrounding areas with some proper movement coaching and exercises. I was moving a barbell and running again in no time. I specifically liked the fact that Marissa was also able to teach me some basics with barbell movement in order to prevent future injury. She broke down the movements with detail and patience. Awesome. Super flexible with scheduling as well. A benefit here is not only moving again, but moving smarter with CrossFit. It's having a Physical Therapist that specializes in CrossFit/Strength/Lift coaching all in one. I'd recommend anyone with movement issues or sports related injuries look them up."
"I had been struggling with some knee pain for a while. It would come and go, but when it came I couldn't do my usual workouts and even yoga exacerbated it. I decided I needed to consult a PT and came to Movement RX to see Dr. Theresa for an assessment. She was able to pinpoint the problem and give me very actionable instructions for strengthening weak points in my body and helped me move better overall. Since visiting I've been able to continue my workouts while simultaneously doing my PT 'homework' to continue to strengthen those weak areas. If you are struggling with a movement issue or injury, do not hesitate to call them and schedule an assessment. It was an immensely valuable experience and I am so happy to have some answers and the ability to move more freely."
"After searching for a PT in San Diego, I decided to check out Movement Rx because I like their movement based approach to PT. I've had three one-on-one visits with Dr. Cody Misuraca so far to figure out what's causing my knee pain. After ruling out any structural issues, he's helped me to identify and fix some motor control issues I've developed that appear to be causing my knee pain. He's also helped me gain confidence with both my squat and deadlift form. I feel Cody has gone above and beyond to help me reach my physical goals. It's obvious he has a deep rooted passion for human performance, and I look forward to continue learning from him."
"I started seeing Dr. Theresa Larson after injuring my neck doing CrossFit. I thought that I would be able to fix the problem with ART, Chiro, and massage but was very wrong. At first I did not think I needed a PT but I am very happy I made the decision to go to Movement-RX. Within 1 visit, I instantly flt better and by applying the movement and mobility homework Dr. Theresa prescribed, I was 100% within a week. To this day I have no pain. I really enjoy how personal the experience is. You never feel like you are just another client. Each session is individualized and designed to meet you with techniques and solutions that fit your life. On top of that, they are just great people. Great service, great people, and great results. You cannot beat that. I HIGHLY recommend scheduling an appointment if you are in pain and are looking to get healthy."
