"This woman changed my life. She made me aware of my (now ex's) narcissistic traits. I know the goal of therapy is to keep couples together but I'm forever grateful for her expertise. 5 months later and I'm the happiest and healthiest I've ever been. While in that toxic relationship I had daily panic attacks, severe hair loss, terrible migraines, insomnia and low self confidence. She made me realize I had a confidence issue which might be uncomfortable at the moment but I'm happy that she made aware of this. I think the negative reviews are mostly made by people that don't understand cognitive dissonance lol. My ex really disliked her since she brought our issues to the light. Thank you Dr Wheeler!"
"If you want to be mistreated and overcharged and scammed then this is the place for you. This is the Karen of all counseling therapist. Do yourself a favor and pay someone else your hard earned money who is more deserving. I have never met such a rude person in my life."
"So my therapist was Amanda. I really liked her in the beginning but around my second session she had already suggested for me to go to a doctor & tell them about how I feel, get my hormones checked & see if they could prescribe me medication. I kinda dismissed it because I’m not depressed at least I wasn’t properly diagnosed with depression it was just my second session I hadn’t really told her much so it’s not like she could tell right away if I’m depressed. My following session she pushed the subject again about how I should seek a doctor for medication for “my depression” again, not properly diagnosed & already telling me I’m depressed multiple times. She was kinda pushy on “you’re depressed you should seek medication” & very early on with it. Then while getting into discussion she had asked me how I was doing with a situation that wasn’t mine own so she had mixed up stories from a different client of hers. Which made me think either she didn’t pay enough attention to me the first time or she has too many clients that she can’t keep up with all of them. Later on in the session she was telling me about how she has a really busy scheduled which I didn’t think much of but then she had told me, “I had one of my clients refer one of her friends to me & I was like “greeaaaaaaat.”” She said it very sarcastically with a frown on insinuating that she didn’t like it. Which was very off putting to say the least & it made me uncomfortable & I sort of felt unwelcomed because I was a new client of hers. I had texted her to cancel one of our sessions a week or two in advance bc I couldn’t afford anymore but she did tell me to let her know if I want to reschedule so I texted her a few days later to see if she had something for upcoming week & it’s been almost a week & I haven’t heard back from her. I wanted to see her again because to be honest her sessions are the only ones I can afford but as of right now I’m kinda in the dark if she’ll ever get back to me or not. I think she was just overwhelmed with clients which is how she seemed when she would talk about how busy she was. Also during our sessions she constantly looked at the clock she just seemed like she couldn’t wait for it to be over also so that’s another thing that made me uncomfortable. Over all my experience wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t great either."
"She is very forgetful about what your passed sessions and you have you constantly reminded her of key elements of your relationship. She also made a lot of assumption about the relationship between the two of us without asking in-depth questions. She doesn't take many notes and doesn't review them which would eliminate a lot of the problems. She wants you to go to her people as well and moves you from individual counselor to individual contributor. I had 3 different individual contributors in 6 total sessions. I believe that she could be a good couples counselor if she tried more and cared more, but at the end of the day it is all about the money for her, that is why she wants you both to come in house for everything."
"I did much research to find Catherine Wheeler for our couple's therapy. She was one of the few with a website with the type of details one would need to make an informed decision. I'm 54 and have been to other therapists since the age of 24. So, I have had my fair share of the variety of therapists out there. I can honestly say that she is the best my husband and I have ever come across. I knew after the first session that we had a good one. It was a fit. We drive all the way from Redlands. But even my husband agrees, it is so worth it. She gets right to the point with useful tools. I mean REALLY useful tools the are surprisingly easy to use and incredibly effective. She has a books, a couples workbook and workshops too. We use all of them. Although I pride myself with understanding "therapy" more than most, I'm always leaving my sessions with her with many aha moments."
