"Though I have provided Mental Health services as a degreed professional for over 20-years as my passion, my advanced mental health experience became a threat to other less-skilled co-workers, in addition to my Program Director (Chris Celio), often challenged my ability to perform my job without performance criticism on a daily basis. Towards the end of my employment, these forms of hostile conditions increasingly became an unwelcome and challenging environment of which I was forced to work. My Program Director Chris appeared to retaliate against me by collaborating with false accusations of my co-workers who felt intimidated by me due to their limited academic knowledge. My non-minority co-workers often displayed acts of racism towards me, and engaged in gossip and back-biting against me (and other female minority co-workers) which often created a hostile work environment which forced me to file an Employee Grievance in August 2017, just 4-months prior to my termination. On 2/26/18, I was terminated by my Program Director (Chris Celio) in retaliation for reporting issues of unprofessional office practices that he repeatedly failed to address and falsely accusing me for his lack of direct managerial duties, responsibilities and inappropriate ways of conducting clinical care and providing treatment to clients on my case load that he committed into inpatient care. During my termination process with HR, Chris inadvertently admitted to not being aware of the policy related to client's who are discharged from Hume to Martinez Jail. Yet Chris insisted on blaming me for the tactical response from Pittsburg Police Department calls to East County Mental Health putting pressure on Chris as to why this client wasn't referred to another agency after his discharge from The Hume Center in July 2017."

"There are so many good things about this place. I've been a client for approximately a year-and-a-half. The facility deals with those struggling with mental health issues including myself. It's utterly amazing how supportive and compassionate that the entire staff is. They have helped me grow and become more mentally healthy and so many ways that I will be grateful for the rest of my life. There's no judgement or stigma and everyone is treated with the upmost respect and compassion. Places like this need to be more common and fortunately that's not the case today but hopefully in the future that will change. I've worked with other mental health agencies and none of them even come close to comparing to the Hume Center. I love this place and I love the people who work there. These people don't work there for the money they work there to contribute and help those with mental health issues learn to cope and live a more positive life. I hope this place never goes away. It is truly a gold mine and the staff there literally saved my life because of the support I received."
