Reviews
"Really poor experience here. Had the pleasure of the supervisor then calling me back on my way home to harass me after I told them I didn’t want to go through with my session."
"The review is about the scheduling itself not with the Physical Therapists. I had good experience with my Physical Therapists. This is in regards to scheduling and actually making an appointment. It's almost impossible to get ahold of someone to make an appointment after getting your PT order. They have a call back service but they don't call back either."
"I’ve never been so unimpressed by a healthcare provider. After 6 weeks of countless calls and two emails to the clinic, I was finally able to get an appointment 2 weeks later. (Fortunately my condition is chronic not acute). My PT arrived to the clinic 30 minutes late on the day of my appointment, without giving notice to his front desk. I purposely scheduled a morning appointment because my calendar can’t accommodate these kinds of delays. Very disappointed. Understaffing is not an acceptable excuse for lack of communication."
"The worst! Less than 30 minutes, no measurements of progress, no review of exercises. Was told it is the same at all locations. Look for another provider even if you have to wait for an appointment. Going here will get you nowhere!"
"I would seriously reconsider going to UCSF for their services as you can find equally as knowledgeable and experienced physical therapists at different outpatient clinics who charge reasonable fees and are able to be transparent with their services. I was treated by to two physical therapists through UCSF Physical Therapy for about 4 months. The therapists themselves are professional and knowledgeable however the services provided are not worth the cost and aggravation. UCSF charges 5-6 times MORE than other physical therapy offices in the surrounding area, even if your insurance is in network. When asked how this is possible, their response is they are a teaching hospital, so they are allowed to. They also do not allow you to be treated for more than one diagnosis in one treatment session, ultimately billing you more. When asked why that is their policy, they are unable to provide one solid answer and the managers do not return your calls. I am a therapist myself, and this is absolutely an abuse of our healthcare system and unethical to charge individuals such large amounts. If you do need to talk to the billing department, they either do not return your calls or provide you with incorrect estimates. I called multiple departments, asked to speak with their managers as well, and almost everyone I spoke with rerouted me to a different department, as they were not able to answer ONE simple question: "What would my out of pocket expense be for a PT Evaluation". When I did finally speak with one employee, I was told my out of pocket expense estimate was $0.00. Over one month later, I then get a bill for over $100. Some of my other bills were even higher (>$500). I called to follow-up and speak with an employee from the billing department for over a month and never heard back from anyone. Specifically with their office at Mission Bay, the front desk is extremely unhelpful and is unable to answer any questions related to insurance or billing. They are even unable to provide you with a number of who best to contact with billing questions. Also, when asked to schedule follow-up evaluations, their front desk staff informed me that is not something they do and I would have to call their office at another time. I am uncertain what these employees are actually trained to do, because they were never able to do anything except check me in for my appointment. If you are going to still move forward with this company, I would make sure to advocate for yourself, ask as many questions as possible, and attempt to understand what and how much you will be paying for services."
