"When work gets stressful for me, my body tends to get out of whack. I'd already been to ProKinetix once, when my work had last been stressful, and while I found it helpful then, it was mostly palliative - sessions consisted of me getting massages to keep the pain down, and if I wasn't back within a week the pain would start creeping back. Thankfully that stressful period eventually ended, and with it went the pain. Recently though, work got stressful again, and so after some delay trying to see if my pain was going to last or would get better on its own, I made my way to ProKinetix again. I came in for pain in my shoulders - my shoulders had always been a little uneven, so I wasn't surprised that my left shoulder hurt and my right didn't, but never really had a great understanding of why. Going in, my expectation was that this would be much the same as last time - I'd get some immediate pain relief(eventually...cupping and deep tissue massages hurt!), but not much more than that. What actually happened, though, is that I got a fantastic physical therapist who taught me what was going on with my body. Instead of simply doing pain management, Dylan did just enough palliative work to ensure that my body could do movements, and then week after week took me through exercises to slowly build strength and get my body out of the rut it was in. What's more, Dylan went above and beyond for me - I'd ask why certain movements might hurt and if he didn't know, he admitted that he wasn't sure, and went and researched it for me. He also was incredibly sensitive about adjusting to meet my needs and where I was at - there were a lot of times in my recovery where I'd mention that something was really hard or was just boring, and he'd immediately suggest an alternative or work with me to find out what was so difficult. This kind of responsiveness and flexible customization is what I eventually came to expect from Dylan, but in retrospect it's not an experience I or anyone I know has had with physical therapy. Since coming to ProKinetix, my quality of life has definitely improved - I'm able to walk my dogs and have one of them stop suddenly without howling in pain from my shoulder, and I've gotten stronger and more confident in my movements. As I've gotten through my shoulder issue, Dylan has been a great support, working with me as I try to push my body's flexibility and do handstands. I came in pretty skeptical about physical therapy in general - I'd experienced it once, and while it definitely did make the pain bearable during, it seemed like a temporary and frankly uncomfortable fix. If you are lucky us to be in the area and unlucky enough to need physical therapy, I'd greatly recommend ProKinetix and Dylan in particular!"
"At the ripe young age of 62, as an avid walker and hiker, I suddenly started having pain in my left knee. Over a period of weeks, it developed into inflammation, stabbing pain when I walked, and intense throbbing when resting. Every moment was painful to some degree. And for the first time ever, I dreaded living in a house with stairs.. After coping with the pain and trying a variety of knee braces, KT tape, pain creams, and living on Advil for about 8 weeks, I finally faced the reality that my knee wasn't going to fix itself. I needed physical therapy. I did my research because I wanted an all-natural approach — not surgery, not drugs (even over-the-counter stuff) to mask my symptoms. I landed on the Pro+Kinetix website and it said exactly what I wanted to hear. I was a little concerned about the cost, but since I couldn't find a better option, I went for it — and of course it was CHEAP compared to surgery! I made my first consultative appointment, and as good fortune would have it, my chosen DPT was Roland Jenkins. In the first 60-minute appointment, Roland was able to evaluate my knee, diagnose my condition, and assure me that physical therapy would help heal it and get me back to the activities I love. Roland is simply a great guy — extremely knowledgable, confident, friendly, relaxed and careful about the exercises he prescribes. Within two weeks, I knew I was on the right track and felt significant improvement, greater mobility and less pain. Then as fate would have it, during my first two months of the PT process, I re-injured my knee TWICE, once while riding a bike and the other while walking my dog — incredibly frustrating! Each time, Roland seemed undaunted by the setbacks, and re-evaluated my knee and adjusted my exercises to strengthen the knee, muscles, etc., and to foster better mechanics to take pressure off the knee and not exacerbate the pain. He took an educational approach to my whole process and progress — helping me understand the mechanics of what we were working on and changing. And it worked! I'm now walking long distances and going up and down stairs without even thinking about my knee. The whole vibe at Pro+Kinetix is cool without being pretentious. Maddy, who's booked my appointments and made changes when I needed them, has been super-friendly and efficient, too. At my most recent appointment, Roland and I were enjoying what felt like a moment of victory, realizing how far I'd come. If you're looking for real-deal physical therapy, Pro+Kinetix is a great place to get it. As for Roland Jenkins? All I can say is THANK YOU."
"I had been dealing with a chronic foot and ankle problem for 15 years; every physician and podiatrist I talked to just shrugged, said my X rays were normal, and recommended better/more expensive orthotics. Despite getting the best footwear I could, I was finding myself dealing with more and more pain, particularly at the end of long shifts on my feet, and my ankle strength was only getting worse. I was so relieved when I found Pro+Kinetix and Dr. Roland, who were the first to explicitly diagnose and treat the muscular weakness I had been told could not be treated. Dr. Roland created a tailored program that took into account my goals (getting back to triathlons and being on my feet for long periods of time) and current level of activity (still very active but in weightlifting), and level of knowledge (I'm a physician myself who believes in the power of physical therapy and movement-based recovery rather than surgical treatments whenever possible). Within the first couple of months, I had noticeable improvements in my ankle and foot strength and stability. After a while, I was back to working 12+ hours on my feet with minimal pain, and am now working up to running longer distances. The exercises that Dr. Roland gave me not only helped my feet, but also helped my knee and hip stability, helping me lift more safely and without knee pain. The staff, therapists, and trainers at Pro+Kinetix are warm, professional, and fun to work with, and it is clear that they are experts in their field. I would absolutely recommend PT at Pro+Kinetix for anyone dealing with mobility limitations or injuries as a wonderful first step to recovery. Special shoutout to Dr. Roland for anyone dealing with foot and ankle issues; he is incredible!"
"I am a 55-year-old active woman. I have been an avid runner, hiker, and periodic resistance trainer for over 30 years. However, I have also had many injuries over that time, including sciatica for the past five years or so that I attributed to not stretching enough. I made my first appointment with Dylan after seeing my doctor for a back problem (herniated disc) and persistent shoulder pain waking me up at night in excruciating pain for months (shoulder/biceps tendonitis). My expectations for PT were low, but I knew it was time to do something. I met with Dylan, and he tested my mobility and discussed a plan. The mobility conversation was new to me, but I was on board for anything that would get me out of pain. I have been seeing Dylan (first every week and now every two weeks) for over five months now, and I can honestly say I am extremely impressed by the results. I am no longer in any pain, I feel stronger, run faster, and can sleep through the night again. After about 2 months and seeing amazing results, I brought my daughter (a former gymnast who suffers from chronic back pain) to see him. She has seen many other physical therapists over the last 10 years, so resisted at first. She is now also amazed by the results she is seeing. I don’t think there is a way to express how incredible it feels to be pain-free and how thankful I am to have found Dylan. On top of being a skilled practitioner, he is also a genuinely nice person and easy to talk to. I can’t recommend him enough."
"I came to Pro+Kinetix cause I was having knee issues and wanted to see if physical therapy would help. The pain was so frequent and strong, I even felt it when standing up from a chair. Within a few weeks I had significant relief all thanks to Dr. Dylan! I've really enjoy his approach to my care. It's super personalized, encouraging, and detailed. My knees are all better after 10 weeks and I'm even staying on with him for personal training. Before my sessions with Dr. Dylan, I had very low confidence in what my knees could handle. It kept me from going on hikes, doing any type of jumping, and had me very cautious when bending my knees at all. Now that I'm a few months into seeing him, my confidence in my knee strength and ability is at an all time high. I highly recommend people see Dr. Dylan for physical therapy and personal training!"
