"I give a two star because his staff was amazing! I love that they recognized my face when I walked in, and that I felt like they cared. Otherwise, it would be less. I have battled doctors who don’t listen to me for years. I live in pain. I have good days, and I have bad. My bad days are usually when I am menstruating and sometimes when I am ovulating. Sometimes it’s in between. I’ll spare the details, but menstruation puts me on the floor in a fetal position. A few years ago, I had a caring doctor in Illinois diagnose me with endometriosis based off of endometriomas on an ultrasound. We were going to discuss a laparoscopy with excision if birth control didn’t work. It didn’t work, and we ended up moving to San Diego before I could have anything done. I had to start over, and we all know how much military doctors love to hand over the Motrin to cover problems rather than properly diagnose and correct them! Skipping ahead a few years, I met a neighbor who also has endometriosis. She sees Dr. Cohen and was raving about how he helped her. I FOUGHT Tricare to see this doctor because she just knew he’d help me too. My first visit was good. I was set up with an ultrasound and I left the office feeling like I was heard and really cared about. My ultrasound went smoothly, albeit uncomfortably and slightly painful because of the type it had to be. I got a phone call telling me that it looked like I had a cyst and would need a laparascopy, so we set up an appointment for a couple days later to discuss the results and schedule the surgery. I thought “Finally! Someone is DOING something! I get to know the stage, and I get to know why I hurt so bad!” Appointment day comes and I am greeted by the staff. It was raining and the doctor was running late. I can live with that. It happens, and it isn’t really preventable sometimes. They set me up in a room, handed me a packet about laparoscopic procedures, and then told me we could set up a surgery for next week after the dr discusses my results. When he finally shows up, he is about 30 minutes late to our appointment. No big deal, but he is rushing. Barely looked at my chart, and did not remember my face at all. He said I have cysts on both of my ovaries, but he isn’t doing surgery. My heart sank. I was being overlooked and not heard again. It’s happening all over again! I’m trying to get pregnant, and I can’t. I have been trying for a while. He said getting pregnant will fix my issues, which is a very outdated way of thinking. It doesn’t fix it, it relieves it temporarily. Some women even still feel endometriosis related pain when pregnant! Having sex is a vital part of getting pregnant, and it hurts to do so. I have to force it! He also told me that he doesn’t think I have endometriosis because I am not in enough pain. I don’t think he truly understands how endometriosis works. Some people have absolutely no pain with it. It depends on where it is attached. I left the office in tears because my cycle had just started again, and while it had started lighter than usual, I knew the pain that I am currently going through would be hitting soon. I knew I wasn’t going to get help this time either. I know better than to get my hopes up for help from anyone, but I truly thought I would have help this time. I feel crazy, and like this is all in my head. I have a high pain tolerance, but some cramps can drop me to my knees? If it isn’t endometriosis, then what is it? Why can’t anybody give me answers, and why does everyone keep refusing the simplest of procedures to just LOOK? I’m currently hunting for a new doctor that specializes in female issues. One that won’t leave me considering wasting ER staff time when I am curled in a ball on the couch, paralyzed from pains ripping through my abdomen, my sides, and my back that no prescription pain killer or anti-inflammatory will touch. I’m not some whiny female that can’t handle period cramps. Something is very WRONG and I am sick of being overlooked by everyone I go to."

"I would give Dr. Joshua Cohen 100 stars if allowed. Dr. Cohen saved my life at the age of 19!!!!! when no other doctor could detect my ovarian cancer, HE DID! (in less than 2 weeks). He sat at the foot of my bed while I was in recovery and was there when I woke up. He would walk the halls with me, play on the floor with 1yr daughter at the time during my recovery time in the hospital. He is the most compassionate physician I have ever met. I have been cancer free for 25 yrs now. I was able to conceive 2 other children after my surgery. I would drive 2 hrs for office visits from El Centro CA always greeted as family. I could write book about my health experiences with Dr. Cohen. I will forever be grateful for Dr. Cohen."
"Dr. Cohen is the type of doctor that makes you think he cares for you, but in reality he is false. What started to disappoint me about Dr. Cohen was that he always seem to be rushing, his lack of professionalism and his lack of listening to your concerns. After my last visit I asked him that I wanted some contraceptive pills to make my period more lighter. I don't even remember what pills he gave me, but the bottom line is that he did not even explain to me how to use them. For my surprise these pills made me bleed my work pants were soaking in blood. If I would have known about all these negative reviews about Dr. Cohen I would have never let him do any type of surgery on me. I was so much in pain that I just wanted surgery so the pain could go away. Unfortunately, I did not do my research meticulously and chose a bad doctor for this procedure. Dr. Cohen has many other negative reviews on other websites, Dr. Cohen just worries about getting money from your insurance and about doing unnecessary surgeries. The reason why I say he likes to do unnecessary surgeries is because he tried to convince me to have a labiaplasty with him, because according to Dr. Cohen "my sexual relations were painful" Not to mention that he made me have a procedure that he could had perform on his office, but instead he made me go on surgery so he could collect money from my insurance. At that moment I knew this doctor was all about performing surgeries for money he is greedy very greedy. For the women out there be careful and don't let this doctor fool you with his fake caring attitude. PS. If you see positive reviews about Dr. Cohen most of them are fake reviews, written by his office staff. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DOCTOR."
