"This review is for 2020 and 2021 and this is a detailed review. I went to Dr. Patel and informed her regarding my decision to try for a baby. I was already 35 years of age at the time so I had expected some judgement since my previous obyn kept pestering me to have a baby at every annual checkup when I was not ready (Maybe it helps them to make money or just bad bedside manners, no idea). Anyhow, Dr. Patel was very non-judgmental informing me that she herself had children after 35 years and that with efforts it is possible. I also wanted to make sure that my health was in a condition to conceive. So we did a scan and it showed medium-sized fibroids. Dr. Patel did a polyp removal and D&C successfully. Thereafter, she said that we could try for a baby and I conceived naturally in three months which was a surprise. The fibroids were one of the reasons for the high-risk pregnancy and I had to go through ultrasound reports for every 4 weeks. I was referred to Stanford for those ultrasounds with Doctors available there as well. In hindsight, maybe I could have pushed for the fibroid removal through the least invasive method so that I might have not had to deal with the stress of the ultrasounds and fibroids. I also had gestational diabetes which was well-managed through nutritionist and diet and exercise and I had to take insulin right at the last week. I also had pubic symphysis pain at one point and Dr. Patel recommended me to get a support belt for my pain and it was very helpful. My delivery went smoothly (Dr. Patel encouraged to push for a regular delivery) but I had a lot of blood clots post-delivery and Dr. Patel actually took a good half-hour to remove my clots. I also panicked at one point thinking I might hemorrhage if I do not continue fundal massages (they were extremely painful for me). However, Dr. Patel came by and assured me that things were fine and I was recovering fine. The lack of 5 stars is due to communication issues. So we were hoping to travel for my babymoon and we asked her office twice and got the green light to go ahead. However, when I met her in person before the travel she did not recommend travelling especially after 24 weeks. So I wish this could have been communicated earlier. I also wish she would make more notes for the after-notes summary, but I guess I could ask her to put things in the notes for my future reference."
