Reviews of University of Phoenix
"I attended the Ontario campus of UOPX in the early 2000s, completed my BOA there and transferred to the exclusively online Phoenix campus to complete my MBA. Things have probably changed since then, but I loved the online study with in-class presentations every couple of weeks. The key to success with online courses is to keep up with the reading and homework. Your rewards are proportionate to the time and attention you invest. I would do it again in a heartbeat."
"I went to the Ontario location prior to the pandemic. It was great as a veteran to be among other vets in class. There was a lot of desk space and the instructors were all professional. Just like any school, you have to be present, with UoP, once a week, for 5 weeks in each class. It was worth it. The rest is online and can be easy, tedious or right in the middle. It just depends on the class. There was a lot of help offered to me, both in class, online and tutoring. I believe the pandemic has shuttered most if not all the locations in California so be weary of that as it effects the amount of housing allowance for GI Bill students."
"I’m a current online student at this particular campus. I’m pursuing my BSIT and have a gpa of 3.8. With that being said my grade is important. My current instructor is JAMES KADLEC. I am having the worst experience with him and requested to speak with the President as the academic department has not been helpful. As a paying student in a private colleges with higher tuition than a traditional college, I should be able to speak with the President of the school. My request has been denied. I have asked for a audit trail as I am under the impression my work is being compromised after submission. I have requested to speak with the President to resolve an issue that is interfering with my grade. This is day 3 and I am denied access to the school President."
"I'm using my Ch. 33 Fry scholarship BAH benefits. I've been to 4 different schools because of living situation. I decided to go to UOP because it's only once a week, for 5 weeks. Sounds good at first. But it's not Getting certified is a battle in itself. I have to call to remind them to do THEIR job, which is to certify me. Sometimes it's takes them until my last week of class to certify, unless I call them to make sure. Every representative I've spoken to has a different time to when they certify (as if the VA doesn't take long enough). I've never had this problem with any other school. They also dropped me from my class, even though I signed the roster and was there! They have yet to resolve the issue and it's been 5 days. I can't get ahold of anyone that can confirm my attendance. And now the VA thinks I dropped the class and wants me to pay them back, for a mistake UOP made! I'm constantly getting the most annoying calls about "wHat aRe yOur gOaLs" "wHaT cAn yOu dO To bEttEr uRsELf" "wHy iS yOuR hOmEwOrk aSsignMent LaTe". Omg lay off. But as soon as I get dropped for SOMEONE else's mistake, can't seem to contact an academic advisor that can help me. *crickets* If you are a veteran or using military benefits, DO NOT GO HERE. Do not waste ur hard earned benefits here. they make it seem like they're all for Veterans, but they only want $$$ money. It's not worth it."
"I actually had a good experience here...though not every professor was equally prepared which often threw off their presentation, I would offer that if you do your part (read & complete assignments) you will take away what you need to be successful in your field and at your craft. My biggest complaint here was the group requirements as it is often difficult to make other people step up when they are accustomed to submitting sub par assignments. The issue here is that others must carry them or the grade for the group is effected. I believe the reasoning is so that students learn how to work with other people making you more adjusted to the workforce. However, the type of work asked of you in class and in the work field is usually quite different. Though i understand the reasoning it might not be appropriate for students with a different learning style. It has been my experience that every institution of learning has their own dogma and/or belief(s) behind the way they do business or reasoning for structuring things a certain way, this is why you should do your research before entering any school to make sure it is a fit. Nevertheless, the bottom line is (in most situations) that you get out what you put in."
