"I adore this university! It is a smaller university compared to the more popular universities around the state. However, I believe more people should visit this University as they have so much to offer! They are small, but they are mighty! I am so happy I graduated from this university. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I was able to meet so many kind people here. I was involved in many activities and I had multiple jobs on campus that I will never forget. I met so many professors, staff, mentors, coworkers, students, supervisor, community members… the list goes on. Ashland, OR may be a small city… but that doesn’t bother me. It feels like my second home. Honestly, I wish I was involved in their performing art programs. I would walk in the building when I worked for I.T and I would go inside the building just because I loved hearing students practice singing. I will be visiting very soon :D I am very excited about this! However, I will be visiting during their Spring Break. I can’t wait to see all the people I met who are still in town. I can’t to walk around campus, see the beautiful deer, the blue jays, and sit where I used to eat lunch when I was a senior. I also cant wait to visit the community such as Morning Glory, Lithia Park, and to walk downtown. If you are considering attending an Oregon University, please consider Southern Oregon University— trust me… you won’t forget it."
"If you have an option to go somewhere else, absolutely do not go here. I withdrew my enrollment a few weeks into the semester and they still charged me over $12,000 for classes I never attended. Sent me to collections and they refuse to send me the itemized bill so I don’t even know what I’m being charged for. Karie in the financial aid office is extremely rude, unprofessional and unhelpful. Every email I received from her is passive aggressive. Their staff is terrible and I would 100% never recommend this place to anyone."
"The teacher uses McGraw Hill books and online Connect program. You cannot email them directly or request a video chat with them. I had a horrible experience with the accounting program. I put in 12 hours a week and still struggled. The resources to learn effiecently are not available. I recommend, NOT going to SOU online accounting program!"
"Some of the teachers are fantastic - but the the staff, the web services, and overall education is downright pathetic. Most of the classes seemed like they were geared toward babies - way too easy! Website consistently bugs out and bans me from my own account in which I have to call the IT desk and remain on hold for an hour just so they can fix the same freaking bug every single freakin' month. I learned so so so so much more about Math, Biology, History, Writing, ect., from doing my own research and studying outside the classroom because most of the teachers taught everything so poorly. On top of all that, random fees plague the school. You want your transcripts? The thing we just have to print out with a push of a button? 20$. You want to graduate after spending all this money on classes? That'll be 50$ Graduation fee (Yes I'm absolutely serious, that's a real fee). Plus we need to charge you 70$ for your graduation gown (Which I skipped out on because screw this school)."
"This university is DEPLORABLE!!!!! Tons of fees, self centered staff and faculty, corrupt administration, They have a 60% retention rate and a 40% drop out rate. this is due to the fact that many students do not feel that they are getting the education they want and deserve. Also, they do not offer what they promise. There is a lot of outsourcing of academic services which should come directly from the university itself. IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND A FOUR YEAR COLLEGE, STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE!!!!!"
