Reviews of Family Service Madison Inc
"My son took the day treatment program here . He wasn't improving at home or in the community but they insisted he was improving. He graduated before his 90 days. At graduation they let us know for the aftercare they invited him back for the peer mentoring program. My son was super excited that he did so well that he got to come back . The week after Thanksgiving he was supposed to start . We were contacted by Emi and asked if we could wait a couple of weeks that she was transitioning to Marcs postion and that they had a staff person leaving. We agreed that he could start at the beginning of January giving them plenty of time to transition. She became very unprofessional. She stopped communicating. Never responded to emails ECT. On January 16th she responded that he would not be allowed back . That her staff agreed they did not want him back because the kiddos he was there with had moved on. Remind you this is a 90 day program. She would have known this in November. She is the director this is not the staffs decision to make she should be making this decision and this is what she told him at graduation. She needs to grow herself a pair and hold herself accountable for her position or give it up to someone that can. I have been a interim manager. Left my co workers and had to write them up talk to them knowing not only was I the youngest but I would eventually be going back to work along side of them but I held a job title that I had to live up to the expectations of.that job. Which she clearly can not do. My son now is over 60 days after graduation. He lost a mentor because we were accommodating their schedule to the mentoring position . He goes to school half days . We do not live in Madison so the now 90 day " aftercare' she said she would offer he already received from his CCS program which knows. So that would close out and he would lose what he has already lost and miss all school accept maybe a half hour. This program comes with 90 day aftercare. Which they clearly do not offer to all participants or stand behind what they tell them they can do . If you have another option for your kids I would definitely choose it and not do this . They do not do what they are supposed to nor does the director knows how to do her job to the ability or standards she should be held at ."
"This place deserves 0 stars! Takes all your information. Has you thinking you're going to get an appointment. And then nothing but no answers! Stay away. Do not trust."
"I first met with Jude here and quickly realized her style was not for me. Sessions were just me talking (even awkward silences), and I prefer a back-and-forth and some prompting. I would also like to note she ended sessions rather early, as much as 25 minutes once. I switched and found Kristine. She is amazing!! I let her know my preferences right away and she went way above my expectations. When I'm facing troubles between sessions, I don't think, "ugh, I'm going to have to tell my counselor about this..." Instead, I can't wait to talk it out with Kristine! She is empathetic, encouraging, and thought-provoking in just the way I need. She gives me every minute of our time and even a few more, which really goes a long way. I've had one in-person appointment and the rest virtual. The offices were pleasant and comfortable; I simply prefer the convenience of a video call."
"You can tell that each member of their staff is extremely caring, passionate, and dedicated to their work. The jobs they do are extremely important and they definitely deserve more recognition!"
"I've encountered a couple of access issues here. One is that the office doorways can be difficult to navigate for wheelchair users who don't have a tight turning radius. The other is that the doors open in such a way that anyone who can't maneuver quickly will be hit."
