Reviews of Alexander Eye Institute
"I knew for several years I wanted to get LASIK, I went to a couple different consultations and Alexander Eye Institute stood out as the clear choice. Each person I met was exceptionally kind and welcoming. Everything was explained to me in a way that eased what little worry I had. The operation itself went as smooth as could be. I followed Post and Pre-Operation directions to the T and no issues ever arose. Thank you, Dr. Alexander and all of your staff."
"It’s been exactly one year since my corrective eye surgery and I could not be happier. I was someone who literally couldn’t survive without glasses or contacts because my eyesight was so bad, now I have better than 20/20 vision. They make everything so easy at Alexander Eye Institute; the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I knew exactly what to expect along every step of the way. Dr. Alexander is an absolute master of his craft and always took the time to kindly answer any questions I had. If you are thinking about LASIK or corrective eye surgery, do it. I never thought life could be like this. I wake up, open my eyes, and can see everything. It was worth every penny and then some."
"Doctor Alexander and his staff are very professional. I had lasik completed by him. I had no issues or discomforts, due to Doctor Alexander's experience. I went from needing glasses to see everything, to perfect vision. You can tell Doctor Alexander and his staff care about patients. They give you easy to follow after care instructions so there is no confusion on what you need to do. He also has an amazing staff. They are really friendly and make you feel comfortable during the eye exam and right before surgery. I highly recommend Doctor Alexander for any vision needs."
"Words simply cannot express how grateful I am for Dr. Alexander and his incredible staff… but I will try my best. I just recently turned 34 and I have been wearing glasses since Kindergarten/1st Grade and started wearing contacts daily in 2nd Grade. Despite thinning my lenses (negative 11-13) as much as possible… wearing glasses has always made me dizzy and nauseous so I avoided wearing them. Fast forward to the beginning of 2023; my contact brand Acuvue Oasis discontinued some of their higher toric lenses as they were less popular. Unfortunately, this included my prescription and thus begun a long and frustrating hunt to find new contact lenses. Up until August, despite trialing numerous contacts, I had yet to find any that I really liked. Around this time, I finally asked for a referral to Alexander Eye Institute to have a consult. Different types of surgeries were reviewed in great detail during my consult with Jess and there was full transparency from the very beginning. While LASIK wasn’t an option for me, PRK wasn’t yet off the table and I scheduled my surgery for the week before Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, my pre-op exam the week of surgery resulted in unfavorable results and PRK was no longer a possibility. I was devastated. I was back to square one, and I needed more contact trials which had a history of taking weeks to arrive to my optometrists’ office... I was already emotionally exhausted and at wits end. Jess took the time to listen to me from day one, and for that, I am so incredibly thankful. She knew what I was going through and that my patience was dwindling. Jess continued to advocate for me and I was able to have another consult. After another consult, and thoroughly discussing all risks and other options, it was decided that PermaClear sight restoration RLE may be suitable for me although ideally provided to those over the age of 40. There were pros and there were cons, but the cons were minimal in my eyes, which at the time could not see very well EVEN with contacts. My daily’s were moving so much that stop signs were blurry until approximately 5-10 ft away, and intermediate vision in general was blurry until squinting/refocusing... Who knew how much longer it would take to find decent contacts? It was already almost September! After much Q&A and research, my family and I decided that this was my best option, and surgery was scheduled. On the day I turned 34, I had surgery on my left eye, and the right, two days following. The surgery was quick and painless. When Dr. Alexander said he was done, I couldn’t believe it! I went into surgery not being able to make out shapes/staff members and hopped off the table seeing!! As someone who couldn’t see the E on the Snellen chart nor read the time on my phone from more than inches from my face; I could see! As my eyes continue to adjust, the pros continue to outweigh the minimal cons. Reading up close is a little blurry, but this has already improved significantly. My intermediate and distance vision is crisp and clear and a night/day comparison to my previous vision with contacts. There are glares as well, but these were there before (just in streams compared to the disks they are now) and honestly, I feel like this is already improving and it’s less distracting than my pre-surgery streams! Overall, my vision has drastically improved. I was almost 20/20 at post op, in both eyes, the day after surgery! I no longer need to rely on someone to help me find my glasses when they got knocked off of my night stand! It has been one long, frustrating and emotional year, but it ended with the best outcome I could ever hope for or imagine. I am so incredibly thankful for Dr. Alexander and all of the amazing staff at Alexander Eye Institute. They took the time to listen to me and my concerns. They treated me with dignity and respect and never once did I feel any pressure to agree to any treatment plan. Dr. Alexander is a truly talented surgeon and the care that this facility has provided to me has been nothing short of exceptional!"
"My eyes are very important and it was a big decision to make. I knew I wanted to go through the surgery but I wanted the best to perform on my eyes. Yes, i could have gone with a local doctor that my brother went to for his PRK but there was no extraordinary inspiration to convince me to go. Thanks to my friend, through the positive experiences and the world of mouth, I decided to go with Dr. Alexander. She had told me that, Dr. Alexander was the best. He was great at what he did, not only that...he also fixed other doctors errors. If I want someone to do my eyes I knew I had found my doctor! I was willing to make the long road trip from MN to WI for all the appointments. The staff at the office were very friendly and accommodate to my needs since I was traveling from aways. They made sure I understood all the directions and my questions were answered before leaving the office. The preparation for surgery took awhile but the procedure was no longer than 10 mins. So far, I can tell the difference. My sight has gotten better and better each day. I am happy to say that I had the best of the best performed on my eyes. Thanks to the awesome staff and to the amazing Dr. Alexander!"
