"I contacted Dr. Mills in desperation after being diagnosed with autoimmune gastritis. He was very responsive when answering questions regarding billing. He would pick up the phone immediately prior to being a patient, and I liked that because it gave me the impression that he had a great bedside manner and I was looking for a different level of care verses what I was receiving from western medicine. My first appointment with him was only 15 minutes, which with his plan you only get seven visits a year. So I was thinking off the bat is this going to count as one of my seven visits. During that 15 minute appointment he grazed over my concerns regarding my gastritis and my deficiencies. Giving him the benefit of the doubt I followed through with his lab requests and provided him with my labs as soon as they came through anticipating my results. Long story long, I forwarded him via email my results that I received from Kaiser along with the password to access them and a step by step from kaiser how to input the password. The email even included a kaiser medical records direct number to call for assistance if you have any questions or problems accessing the labs. Dr. Mills also had my contact information that he could call at anytime with questions. Since submitting my labs to Dr. Mills he never called me to let me know he was having trouble accessing them, nor did he pick up his phone, when I called him multiple times to inquire on my labs. You would think that he would have returned my multiple calls to let me know he was having trouble accessing them. I sent over my results on a Thursday and received an email on Tuesday that he was unable to access them. After I made several attempts to reach him days prior. He never attempted to call me. If you are paying out of pocket monthly for a doctor you are expecting a different level of care. Unfortunately I had to cancel my subscription due to lack of communication. You would think that when I sent over my cancellation request the doctor would reach out to me and ask me what I felt went wrong. As good ethical practice. But no, he responded via email very condescendingly. I felt so unimportant to him, like I wasn’t even worth a follow up call. His response via email to my cancellation gave me clarification that I did the right thing by canceling. When you’re diagnosed with an autoimmune condition it can be very overwhelming and you feel vulnerable, and sometimes people take advantage of that vulnerability."
