"The on-field mechanic (Bryce?) misdiagnosed my bad alternator as a bad voltage regulator. Apparently he doesn't know you can test an alternator independently from a regulator, it's called a "full field test." I knew when they called and tried to talk me into replacing both I was dealing with a subpar mechanic, but what are you going to do, my plane was broke, and I needed it. They quoted me a replacement alternator at "about $1000" so I found my own for $650. They installed it for me at a price of $800. It's a Lycoming O-235....its 2 bolts, a belt, and a couple wires. MAYBE 2 hours worth of work at the most. The best part is, after I paid the bill, got in my plane and started it up, the fuel pressure gauge was reading incorrectly, and when I notified him of it, he accused me of it being bad BEFORE he worked on it, in a very hostile way. Oddly enough after I taxied the plane back to his shop, and he rechecked his work, he had it working properly again (about 5 minutes of work) and it's been fine ever since. I would STRONGLY recommend taking your plane somewhere else if you can. Knowing what I know now, I would've flown it to Duluth for the repair. Very disappointing."
"I still go there for coffee on Sat. mornings along with the old FBO (still airport manager) and others. I have flown most of my adult life and the jury is still out about the new FBO. Bremen the newest A&I mechanic in SUW is the best or the best and he also meets with us on some Saturdays."
"If you are looking for an affordable and quality school for flight training, look no further! The owner/instructor is extremely personable and has a passion for flying and teaching others. The discovery flight here is very hands-on compared to a flight school I tried in the Twin Cities, so it is a great way to "discover" if flying is right for you. You cannot beat the aerial view of Lake Superior and the Twin Ports area."
"No nonsense, reasonably priced flight instruction in a varied training environment. Started my private and completed my instructor ratings here. Worth the trip across the bridge."
"Aircraft are priced amazing!, low fuel prices, people always willing to help, owner and instructors are understanding and willing to work with students and customers, Instructors treat me with respect, instructors easy to work with, aircraft easily accessible 24/7 and most of all they like what they do. I would recommend them to anyone in the world for everything from a simple demo flight to private license and all the way up."
