"I have been a customer of A-1 Pools in Westbend for eight seasons, purchasing about 90% of my pool’s needs from this location. Throughout those eight years I’ve had good experiences with A-1’s employees; though their prices are higher, I’ve found their willingness to share their knowledge very valuable. I left my pool without care for 10 days; when I returned, it needed to be shocked. On Tuesday, August 1st I stopped at A-1 Pools and purchased one of the last cases of shock from that pallet. There was a pallet of fresh shock, but it was still wrapped in plastic and I was in a hurry. Normally, two gallons of shock will clear up my pool water, but I poured in all four gallons, two first, then two more the next morning. There has been little change to the greenness of the water - I assumed the shock was too old. In the past, when purchasing liquid shock, A-1 Pool’s employees, in the past, have informed me if the shock I was purchasing was “older” and said, “…if it’s not effective, come back to the store and we’ll get you a fresh case.” The shock I purchased had almost no effect. I returned to the store, explained the situation, showed my receipt and asked for a fresh case of shock at half price. “Kim” the woman at the counter got her boss. I didn’t get her name, but she informed me that, “We don’t do that.” Not much of a threat, I know, but I informed her that I’ll be taking my business elsewhere."

"Wide assortment of products and pool maintenance items. Can be a little expensive but that’s to be expected for something local and immediately available. Good selection of specialty items you would otherwise need to wait a while to ship from an online store. I Strongly recommend doing your own research on what it is your pool needs and having a game plan before you go in. I took their advice on modifying my weekly pool chemical maintenance and had a severe algae bloom within a week. Most of the “recommended” changes dealt with Algae treatment… getting back to my normal treatment plan (informed by my own research) and things are going much better. Do your own research, know what your pool needs, stick to that plan and this place can help supply what you need for that plan."
