"I really liked living at City Place. It's a little too pricey for me to stay another year, but the location is amazing. Everyone was easy to work with. Maintenance was responsive. Interiors are lovely, big bay windows in the bedrooms and even the hallways are pleasant-looking. My only qualms are no fitness area and expensive parking."
"My experience was as an applicant for a maintenance position. I was led to believe I’d get the job offer as soon as the hiring manager was back to work, as there are very few decent solid maintenance technicians in the Madison area, with as strong a resume..but essentially ghosted after 2 long interviews that seemingly went extremely well. Essentially strung along. I was interviewing many job opportunities and received offers, but this was the only one I would’ve been willing to accept if given the offer. I always prefer to hear back about the ultimate outcome either way, and did not, and had to call to get the unfortunate news. I thought highly of this company, but after this my perspective has changed. The way they handled me as a prospective hire after going through a 2 step interview process is very telling, speaks volumes and says a lot about the company. Maybe this wouldn’t have been the job it was all cracked up to be in the first place, if that’s the way they handle things professionally."
"This complex has the potential to be a great living community. Unfortunately the poor management over shines its architectural beauty. I believe our property manager is Ashley R. This complex is stunning and attracts a very particular crowd, that are not accepting of other nationalities. This location is mismanaged to put it gently. Some examples to support the above statement follow: Staircases wreak of garbage, smoke and other unidentifiable smells. Garbage shoots are consistently full and overflowing. Going into the top floor garage on the weekend? Be prepared to see a landfill covering the floor. My heart breaks knowing management isn’t doing anything to avoid this weekly mess for maintenance. Fire alarms go off at least once a week in our building or in other surrounding ULI buildings. Paid amenities limited or restricted because of management imposed rules. No reimbursement for paid amenities that are restricted from tenants. Key fobs are a literal joke. The door locks break for doors entering the building from outside and take days or even weeks to fix!! Not fun to walk halfway around the building when it’s freezing outside. There are many instances when there are homeless people sleeping in our garage. There have been many theft reports on property. I have witnessed individuals breaking into the bike room late at night stealing bikes. What does property management suggest we do? Lock our doors! It’s concerning the level of mismanagement and incompetence of these rental properties. This place is a total disaster covered up by beautiful architecture."
"My husband and I live with our pup at Seven27, one of Urban Land Interest's (ULI) apartment buildings near Monona Bay. Prior to ULI, we lived under Smith Management in Madison, which was great! Though I can only speak to ULI's Seven27 property, my experience with ULI as a property management company has been excellent. I have high standards for responsiveness, cleanliness, and competence, and ULI has exceeded my expectations. Our building's main lobby area, mail area, fitness center, and community room are well maintained (vacuumed and mopped almost daily, furniture straightened, consumables replenished); the property has strict pet waste policies, so you'll be hard pressed to find any dog waste around the building, which is fantastic considering most tenants here have dogs; and the building is modern with a luxury feel and floor-to-ceiling windows (one of the main selling points for me!) Ashley Robertson, the property manager for Seven27, is responsive, competent, and friendly. She encourages parking/noise/cleanliness/masking policies through email, pleasant signage around the building, and with actual enforcement measures when necessary. One of ULI's leasing specialists, Heather Imrie, has been fantastic in her responsiveness to my many questions about the building and ULI's leasing policies. Seven27's primary maintenance professionals, Domingo and José, are efficient, thorough, and highly knowledgeable. They've been able to fix or provide advice for any maintenance-related issue I've had. In a nutshell, I'm very impressed with ULI and recommend it to anyone that is looking for a great place to live and is willing to pay more of a premium to do so."
"Please read before looking to rent at ULI!! If I could go back in time I would never have rented from this place. Their apartments cost A LOT, and you won't get what you pay for. First of all, let's talk about the property itself. For reference, I lived at 1722 Monroe, just as it was newly built. While I will say the apartments themselves were nice, there were serious flaws. There was a loud banging (in the vents?) that they were never able to figure out what the ultimate cause was. The lobby doors to the outside and the elevator broke constantly. Strange beeping noises would emanate from the elevator control box and the vestibule. They would eventually fix these, but they would be broken for days to weeks at a time. There was consistent broken glass in the parking lot; a serious hazard, especially for dogs living in the building. While ULI professes to being the premier property managers, I have found them to be totally, utterly incompetent as well as absolutely unreasonable. Number one, they are super unresponsive. I called/emailed the property manager while at the property and the responses were consistently delayed. I almost never was able to speak with anyone directly although they profess to being reachable "from 9-5". They double-charged us for rent several months in a row and it took a lot of calling for them to fix the issue. They "forgot" to send us the move out information until right before we were moving out. They charged us ($1500!!) replacement cost for the apartment's front door when our dog merely scratched it. They tried to enforce a "no balcony lights" policy citing some clause that says to keep your balcony clean. Turns out, they were just pandering to the designer of the building who happened to live in the area and thought balcony lights were trashy. Ask yourself what you are paying for before renting here. A nice place? You can find that elsewhere. Good service? You assuredly won't find that here. Basically these apartments are WAYY overpriced and my advice is to look elsewhere."
