Reviews of 442 Play Parties for Men
"Great space great staff and had a wonderful time period can I wait to get back and joy it again"
"I've been to most gay adult play spaces in SF and several elsewhere (many have closed since). All are hit and miss. 442 is the only venue I've been to where I "get some" even on a "miss" day. The venue attracts a diverse crowd (all races, and a variety of "types") that's there to have adult fun. Not to chitchat or drink or socialize. Two levels with several rooms with a wide variety of play equipment like benches, platforms, "horses", slings, etc. It gets very popular on Saturdays, less busy on Fri, Sun, Mon. Closed on other days except for special occasions. Given how popular it is and what's going on I have to say they do a great job keeping the place clean. No need to freak out about making contact with any of the surfaces, and that is not the case everywhere else in similar establishments. Upper level can get very hot and steamy on busy nights. One of the reasons why most guys don't wear more than their jock strap, if that. 2nd floor is only accessible by a flight of stairs, but plenty of equipment to play on downstairs as well. Light level varies in different rooms, so whether you're shy or enjoy putting on a bit of a show, there's a spot for you. One room downstairs is a 'dark room'. Also, on 5th Saturdays and rare other occasions the whole venue is extra dimly lit for"lights-out" parties. Free lockers ($5 deposit) $15 to get in, $10 on some less-busy nights. Friendly, responsive staff. No showers, no place to "rinse", the one stall in the restroom is not very private, so come ready to play. Have fun!"
"I find 442 really hit or miss. On a few occasions it has been super fun; on others dead. Like other similar venues in SF, the crowd is usually pretty meh. The space is small and usually too warm and poorly ventilated. All the various play tables are too high or too low (and I'm 6' tall). It isn't the most thought out space for sure. The staff are friendly enough but they have a cash only policy and apparently no coins either. I'm increasingly suspect of businesses that don't take cards, in the year 2017 with the ubiquitousness of contactless payment such as Apple Pay. Anyone can get a square reader. As others say, Saturday nights are usually best. Sunday evenings are dead in my experience. Monday is a respectable crowd but get there close to opening at 8. By 9:30 - 10 there are few new arrivals and most people are out the door."
"I found this venue to be tourist friendly. Just a a few blocks from Bloomingdales and the Westfield Mall near Market and 5th. Also very close to the a main hub for BART, MUNI and cable cars. When I arrived, I was greeted with a very friendly and welcoming staff. I was impressed with the electronic lockers unlocked by wrist bands. So 2k. Once inside, lets just say it was game on. There was no wasting time to join the fun. That being said, it is also a great place to observe. The crowd was diverse and offered many scenes. Something for everyone. The 2 floor layout was jaw dropping. There are different rooms with different vibes. Each enhanced by a “low light” lighting design obviously well thought out by a pro. If you are a person seeking that legendary San Francisco "South Of Market", aka SOMA experience, look no further. This is it."
"Fantastic space - clean, well laid out and friendly staff. Been here twice now - will absolutely return again."
