Reviews of Faircrest Management
"If I could give this establishment 0 stars I would. Nan - the woman who works in the office is very unprofessional. When I was in the process of trying to fill out an application for a unit, I had some pretty normal questions. My phone calls were barley answered, and when they were she was extremely, disrespectful and cut me off every time I spoke. It’s almost like she was rushing me off the phone, which led me to call again because I wouldn’t remember the questions I initially had. I even asked which she preferred; being reached by phone or via email and she said either doesn’t matter. When I started to email her it was a better response time, but very vague answers which led to prolonged conversations. She constantly beated around the bush instead of just answering simple questions. After the back and forth, eventually my application fell through and it was genuinely a blessing in disguise. I don’t like writing negative reviews, but I wouldn’t want anyone to lease from this establishment. I’m so happy with where I did end up signing a lease with; and let me tell you It was so easy and graceful it was a complete 180° from my experience with Faircrest Management. I genuinely hope they do some serious self reflecting within their staff."
"DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. They do not deserve a star. I am writing this review 4 years after living with them because I received a call from a debt collector saying we still owed them for various payments that we not only had already paid for, but physically went into their office 4 years ago and helped them find the check that they misplaced for those various payments, and it is now clear that even after that they did not keep track of the payment and now I have to deal with it 4 years later....AGAIN. The experience with them at the time was terrible as well. When we moved into the apartment it had not been cleaned, and though they said they would send someone over to clean it they never did. We had a closet filled to the brim with garbage and a filthy bathroom to deal with ourselves. That being said, the call from the debt collector in which Faircrest LIED (as a result of their extreme organizational negligence) to EXTORT money from me 4 years after I moved out, is by far the WORST customer experience I have ever had with anyone anywhere."
"They deserve less than one star. In my opinion, this company is absolutely corrupt. Not only did they take forever to take care of repairs in my apartment when I reported them, including repairing a bathroom window in the middle of winter, leaving it open for a number of days, but they actually filed a claim with a debt collector that i owed them rent for months i did not live there and were not included in my lease as well as a stay over fee claiming i moved out late when i actually moved out a month early. If you do rent with them, be sure to keep all documentation for, at least, 5 years after you move out as this happened to me over a year after I moved out. Outrageous!!"
"I'm begging you, please do not rent from Faircrest Management. Incredibly unprofessional management. The day we moved in the apartment was filthy and damaged. Large holes in the wall, mouse poop, various mouse sightings, squirrels in the ceiling, A LOT of mold, just to name a few. Asked multiple times to get the apartment to a more livable standard. We eventually called the building inspector and our apartment had 40+ code violations. They did a shoddy job of most of those repairs, surprising because we would have repairmen in our house up 12 hours a day (if they decided to show up when they said they would.) Art had the audacity to say to my roommate and my face that we were there to "scam them" out of money and had trashed the place ourselves before calling the inspector. Emergency number would not work/ would be screened by the repairman. They would not answer phone calls/emails 50% of the time during business hours as well. If you made the unfortunate mistake of renting with them (I'm sorry, we did too), do not give up and let them win. Call the inspector, record all (in)action and communication with them and follow through with everything."
"I call bullshit on the guy who said he had a good experience. I would never, ever recommend this management company to anyone. They're not affordable; they're CHEAP, and terrible. We lived in a pretty spacious three-bedroom apartment in the James Madison Park neighborhood of Madison, with a finished basement and two bathrooms. The price was great for the space, until you take into account that the space was literally falling apart. We lived there for two years and experienced so many maintenance issues that I literally can't remember them all. I'm going to try, though, for your benefit. 1. A leaky pipe in the upstairs bathroom caused the ceiling tile over the tub to collapse and fall down THREE TIMES over the course of those two years. The third time, the gaping hole was left, well, gaping for almost three months, until we called the city and complained. Then, and only then, was the hole repaired, but the pipe was allowed to continue leaking. By the time we moved out, the ceiling looked in danger of collapsing again. This despite repeated reports and even pictures sent to management. 2. One February, the exterior door leading out of the basement bedroom popped out of its jamb after catching on a block of ice on the driveway. Maintenance responded promptly, but did not actually repair the damage; rather, they screwed (literally screwed) the door shut. The now-inoperable door was not replaced until August. 3. The exterior door to the laundry room had a faulty lock. Someone broke in one night and threw paint all over the room. It took a week for the mess to be cleaned up, and again, the door was not repaired until we complained to the city several months later. 4. The glass on the outermost front door was broken by the same person who ruined the laundry room, and was not replaced for several weeks. 5. The paint coating the walls and floor of the downstairs shower was not waterproof, and was repeatedly worn away to reveal the bare concrete underneath. It was only repainted once, at the city's order, despite repeated complaints. 6. A wall panel in one of the upstairs bedrooms fell down, and was left like that until we moved out several months later despite, again, repeated complaints. 7. Maintenance staff took down the gutters and never replaced them, causing water to leak into the basement through the foundation. When we moved out, the carpets down there were constantly damp. I hate to imagine what the subsequent tenants had to deal with when they arrived. 8. The heat in the apartment was never turned on until the beginning of November or later, no matter what the temperature was outside. The second year, we had to call the emergency maintenance line to get the heat turned on, or face a 30-degree night in an unheated house. 9. The driveway was in awful disrepair. It was asphalt, but worn down to gravel in many places. A rock from said driveway kicked up into my car's undercarriage and severed the cord attaching the alternator to the engine. After we called the city about the disrepair, maintenance entered the apartment at all hours and without notice. Many repairs, such as the gutters, were not completed, and many more, such as the pipe over the tub, were only half-completed, with damage returning within a few weeks. Nan never answered emails. She sometimes answered phone calls, but did not return them. Calling maintenance directly sometimes helped. Nan always claimed that the problem lay with them, not her, but they were more responsive (to emergencies) than she was. Frankly I consider it a miracle that our security deposit found its way back to us, and a smaller miracle that no one was hurt by the actual falling debris whenever something else gave way. No matter how good of a deal one of their apartments may seem, PLEASE do not lease with them. You will seriously regret it."
