Reviews of Iron Gate Apartments
"It’s fine and a nice location but since the point of renting an apartment is to sleep somewhere good luck with that. It’s so poorly insulated, you can hear neighbors take any footstep, shut any door, sometimes talking, and even flush toilets on either side of the walls, upstairs, and downstairs. The most interesting part is you can even FEEL a lot of the noises when your feet are touching the ground. If you want to be able to sleep (I use multiple white noise machines, ear plugs, and my head sandwiched between heavyweight pillows every day and can STILL hear banging around) then this isn’t the place for you. *I received a reply disregarding my rental experience. It is not a matter of “so quiet you can hear a pin drop” it’s a matter of a horribly and cheaply built complex. Be warned!"
"In Months 1-9 out of 12, in my experience renting with Goldleaf was overall okay. However, Fair Warning: Once you decide to move out, Goldleaf development will go on the offensive. You are now their target to make up their cash reserves for equity partner distributions. My roommate and I are both audit associates for a top 10 public accounting firm. We can read invoices backwards and do compliance with our eyes closed. This property company does not go about business in good faith. First, I experienced unreasonable apartment showings and times. One showing was 10am on a Saturday, which there were already multiple showings during the previous days. (Yes, I understand you have the right to legally within the 12-hour notice window, still does not make it reasonable). Itemized list issues: Inaccurate: "Carpet cleaning charges" -We marked stained carpets in living room and hallway in the move-in check list, they must have been disappointed it was documented, as they added "Black stains" in each bedroom to ensure it was a line item on our charges. Vague: "Microwave handle broken/Chipped charges." This item was fully functional. AKA: (The $285 Gold-leaf Special) Vague: "Extra Dirty Toilets" - (AKA the one thing any coherent reasonable person cleans.) Vague: "Additional cleaning above normal wear and tear" (They had a charge item at Qty 1 |Rate $175| Total = $140) We saved money from this clerical mistake, but they can't even be bothered to double check their own invoice accuracy. Now our property manager is likely doing what upper management is telling her to do, however, this is not my problem, nor others. Goldleaf is putting their property managers in bad positions, which is probably why we had multiple ones during my 12-month lease. Additionally, I am not in denial as there were ~$160-$200 of legitimate charges taken by Gold-leaf. However, there were ~$600 of vague, word-soup charges, that were not reasonable or transparent charges. Luckily, I am writing this from a lens of being privileged. In that my short-term & long-term financial health is not impacted by this. There are young parents, immigrants, and older residents in my building and to know each of them will have to experience these unethical charges, makes me very upset. See you tomorrow!"
"I relocated to the Madison area in August of 2021 for a new job. As the job offer was pretty expedited, I wanted to find a place that was close to the city but not far from my hometown of Milwaukee, and I set to shopping for apartments, planning to sign a lease within the day of my showings. Iron Gate was the first place I toured in the morning, with a few other apartments later in the day. I got a good vibe from the place and the building manager off the bat, but I whinged at the price. After my subsequent apartment showings that day, it was confirmed that often times, a choice comes down to the personal experience with a mediator, and that Andi Aldrich sold me on Iron Gate with her professionalism and assurance of a great living situation. I haven't been disappointed yet. The residents here are kind and happy - owing, I'm sure, to Goldleaf's dedication to its facilities. The halls are immaculate and stunningly quiet, well lit and inviting. My apartment is a roomy one bedroom with in-unit washer and dryer, a small island counter and updated appliances. The underground parking is a huge plus during the winter, and the pool and grilling area is well maintained during the summer months. Having come from a dingy little hovel in Milwaukee, my friends and family have consistently remarked on how nice my new place is. And I can't overstate how important it is to have a building manager that is approachable, friendly, and accommodating to one's needs. Andi goes above and beyond to organize events, expedite concerns, and build relationships with tenants. These are things I had no idea fell under the purview of such a position, so I suspect it's just that she's a bad*** who actually cares about her job. Sign away, oh ye on the fence of Iron Gate."
"I moved to Irongate Apartments last September. I really like this apartment. The location is great. The staff is friendly and helpful. I am a quilter/artist. My one bedroom apartment has enough room for a sewing area in the living room and a painting table in the bedroom. The kitchen is a good size with plenty of storage. Andi is the manager . She is friendly, efficient, and always welcoming when I show up at the office. This is a great place to live. 5 Stars!"
"Our experience with Iron Gate has been exceptional! My husband and I sold our family home and moved to Iron Gate Apartments while we decide where we want to live next . We had not lived in an apartment for more than 30 years and the apartment manager Andrea Aldrich( Andi) has helped make our transition smooth and positive with her pleasant professional, people- oriented approach. She expertly guided us through the rental process and continues to amaze us with her ability to deal with all the numerous responsibilities of managing 3 apartment buildings- all with a warm friendly smile. Our apartment is very spacious and comfortable and has excellent sound insulation. The buildings are very clean, orderly and well maintained by Rollie who is extremely dependable and responsive to anything that needs attention. I highly recommend Iron Gate apartments!"
