"I took a 1-on-1 beginner class with Arthur and I couldn't be happier and more impressed with the experience. I came in with a list of bike repair tasks and concepts that I needed to learn for a job interview and we spent 4 hours perfecting each one. It was so productive and hands on and I honestly didn't think I would be able to learn the material but he made it so easy and fun. The shop is a perfect learning environment and I was able to work on his class bikes instead of bringing my own which can be a hassle. He had an array of different road and mountain bikes to use. I highly recommend working with Arthur! He offers the top bike mechanic training/teaching in California so even if you aren't based in San Jose, it is worth a trip!"
"I was looking for someone to fix the flat tire of my son's bike and the Bike Teacher was fantastic. Among the different quotes I got from shops around my neighborhood he was the least expensive and with the fastest turnaround. He quickly repaired the flat tire and also aligned the handle bars with the front wheel. He was polite and professional and even gave my son good tips for his youtube videos. Will definitely go to him again if we ever need another bike repair!"
"I had a great experience with Arthur in my 40 hour class during the last week of June, 2023. Arthur provided his expertise and because of his easy going demeanor, he allowed me to guide the instruction by finding my way on my own as far as which skills and areas of the bike to focus on. This ability to adapt to students’ learning styles and specific needs, along with Arthur’s comprehensive knowledge of bicycle mechanics, makes Arthur a great teacher. As part of my experience, Arthur actually loaned me a bike, which was my only transportation for the week. By riding an average of 15 miles each night after class, I was able to identify repairs the bike needed that would then become the focus of the next day’s instruction and learning. In this way, I worked on and came to understand every subsystem and component of the bike. Not many teachers would be this accommodating of their students. By the end of the week, I truly came to think of the bike as “mine” (Arthur, let me know if you ever decide to part with that Sherpa!). -Tim Hanna, Mainland Regional High School, Linwood, New Jersey"
"I had a great time spending 2 days with Arthur doing the advanced class. I learned a ton and really liked his mellow energy. I’m a little wound up by nature so it was nice to slow down and not rush. His shop/studio is super comfortable and well stocked with all the tools you would ever need. I plan on going back and working towards my 40 hour certificate after summer."
"After years of riding bikes and seeing how the technology had changed over the years I realized that it was time to increase my skill. I looked all over for a place were I could not only learn the basics but where I could get in-depth training on all aspects of bike repair. That led me to the Bike Teacher. Arthur as a great person to learn from, he is a very knowledgeable and patient person just what you want in a teacher as you are learning. There was never a question to simple or complex that Arthur couldn't answer or couldn't find the answer. After taking the 70 hour program I'm ready to pursue my post retirement dreams of opening my own little bike shop/cafe. If you looking for a simple how to class or a much more in-depth program i highly recommend you check out the Bike Teacher!!!!"
