"I am a current tenant and I must say, I CANNOT WAIT FOR ME LEASE TO BE UP!! The location of the apartment is essentially what you're paying for. HOWEVER, be aware in the summer. The courtyards are infested with wasps, literally to the point where you have to run to your door. The unit is a pretty nice size, but only comes with an in-the-wall AC that sits so low to the floor, it only cools off the living area and the kitchen. Its super hot throughout the rest of the apartment. The washers half work. Instead of replacing them, they "repair" them and a few weeks later, its back not working. Oh and the bats, yes BATS are ridiculous. Every other month there's a bat inside the building or flying around the basement. Can't even go into the basement and wash, without thinking a bat is going to fly around, its sickening. If you want to feel like you live in a forest, this is the place for you. There is mold growing on the walls in the bathroom because there is no ventilation and of course, when you take a shower it gets hot and moist. These are just to name a few things to be aware of..."
"I've lived here twice: once back in 2007-2008, and more recently from Feb 2016 to *EDIT* 2020. The company that has taken over Oak Park is doing a fantastic job cleaning the place up and fixing up a lot of issues that have sprung up over the years (these buildings were built in the 1960s for the most part). So while some things aren't great, they've replaced the windows, siding, heating, washers and dryers, repaved the parking lots, and added new mailboxes, just to name a few things they've done, and they're planning even more. Overall I'm happy here. *EDIT* I moved out in 2020, as the rent for a 1 bedroom was pushed upwards of $850 and repeatedly having issues with mice in my apartment. Thank god I had my cats--they caught 2 of them over the last 2 yrs I lived here, causing me to knock it down from 4 stars to 3."
"Horrible customer service. I would not recommend renting from any Coachlight properties. They constantly were shutting off the water for repairs. I had mold growing on my bathroom walls because there’s no fan. The basement floods easily. They raised my rent every year and twice during 2020. My parking permit fell from my rear view mirror it was towed. My vehicle is registered with the office and on my lease paperwork. I had to pay $200 to get my vehicle back. When I emailed the office they wouldn’t reimburse me. They write passive aggressive unprofessional notes and slide them under your door instead of having actual conversations. When I tried to get out of my lease they said I was a day late there for responsible for another month’s rent. The 31st was a holiday and the office was closed. They then admitted that they had a lot of move outs and wouldn’t have the time to flip the apartment. I sought legal aid from Marquette and they assured me I was in the right and had given proper notice but the Women in the office argued with me back and forth over emails. I’ll believe a Attorney/Marquette law professor before I let some office chicks make 13 an hr.try to interpret the law to me. Thefts from vehicles. which I honestly believe was the tow company they used. Just an all around awful experience. Avoid if you can!!!"
"This place had its ups and downs, sadly more downs than ups. + Nice area of town to live + They took care of the grass in the summer. -Their leasing managers are constantly changing and the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing, there is a lack of communication between what they they practice and what they tell their tenants. -They are always increasing their rent pretty regularly. -It takes a long time to get maintenance issues fixed. -They find ways to give you back the least amount of your security deposit back….This just happened with me. One leasing manager stated that the apartment I was in did not need to have ANYTHING done to the carpet upon departure because it has been 10 years and they were going to be tearing it out. However, upon receiving a list in the mail with what they took out of deposit…it was noted they took out almost $400 to replace carpet!!! How is it the fault of the tenant if the leasing office states one thing and does something different?!?!?!? This is absolutely absurd!!!!"
"If you value privacy and your tenant rights do not live here. They were replacing the windows throughout the complex and we went out of our way to ask that they do not do it a specific week because I was out of town and my wife would not be available. Natalie in the front office agreed and confirmed she would tell the workers our building needs to wait an extra week. However, they came into our apartment with no notice and replaced the windows anyways. When I called and talk to Natalie again, she said that she told them and doesn't know why they went in, then after some more questioning she changed her story saying she called and left me a message, then backtracked again saying the the letter they gave us the week earlier was sufficient notice. There are so many holes in this it is ridiculous. We have the letter stating they will call 24 hours in advance (no call happened), I have the screen shots of my incoming calls (no calls from anyone with a Wisconsin number let alone the front office), and most importantly they broke the law coming into our resident without proper 24 hour notice. If all of this wasn't enough, they said they'll need to come in a second time to inspect the windows. We stated that one of us must be there when they enter the apartment , they agreed because of the other mix up. However, they still came in with no notice (call, email or otherwise) and we were not present. We only knew they were in our apartment because all of our blinds were left open. We moved out because of this and management said it would be best if we parted ways. No apology, admission of wrong doing, retention, remorse; simply you don't like how we run this place you are welcome to leave."
