About the Business
TheCoderSchool in Berkeley, California is a cutting-edge institution dedicated to teaching coding to the next generation of innovators. Located near UC Berkeley, Pixar, and Oakland, we are at the heart of the Bay Area tech scene. Our goal is to inspire young minds to think creatively and have fun while learning to code. We offer free trials for those interested in joining our program.
In addition to regular coding classes, we also host special events such as coding workshops for Girl Scout Troops. These workshops introduce girls to coding using Scratch or Python, while also emphasizing internet safety. Our birthday parties are a hit, with coding activities, games, and even a foosball table in our cool Coder Lounge.
Led by General Manager Lynna Tsou, who has a background in educational psychology, TheCoderSchool Berkeley is dedicated to providing a fun and educational environment for children to learn coding. Join us for the coolest party ever or sign up for our coding classes to start your coding journey today!

"Our son has really enjoyed working with his coding coach, Grant! He has developed some good coding skills. The staff at the Coder School are all very nice, helpful and accommodating. Our family have been working with the Coder School for several years and have had a great experience. We hope they continue to be successful."
"Code Coaching at the Coder School really helped to develop our kid's passion for coding and their ability to make their ideas concrete. Lynna worked with us on a special request (a specific programming language and interest in pro game design) and took the time to get to know our kid and match them with after school coaches that would be a great fit. If you have a kid who wants to learn more about how to write code in an environment filled with other kids who are also excited about code projects, I highly recommend the Coder School."
"Unfortunately our experience was pretty awful! My son attended a open house class to check out the school. He loves coding and has taken so many terrific classes. The instructors didn't introduced themselves or ask the kids names, the instructor leading the coding had her back to the class and was barely audible, my son kept getting up to see the projected screen closer (ten times!) and at no point did a teacher ask if he'd like to sit close to see better, although one instructor was circulating he never once said hello to my kid or asked if he was understanding things. We were disappointed!"
"My 8 year old wanted to learn coding so we tried a trial session at the coder school and immediately knew it was a good fit. The coaches have all made my shy kid feel comfortable, the admin have been great at communication when we need to make a schedule change, and the flexibility to take make up classes (rather than just lose out on a session when traveling or ill) is so helpful. But best of all, my kid looks forward to this class so much each week. I also love the notes I get from the coaches after classes summarizing the skills they worked on. Recently, we tried a remote class (because my son didn’t want to miss his coding classes while on vacation!) and I was in awe listening to how he and the coach discussed and analyzed the game he was building. Whether or not he pursues coding later in life, I believe that the critical thinking being practiced at the coder school will benefit my son greatly."
"We're so glad we started our 11 year old son at Coder School! The facility is terrific, location is convenient, and the instructors do a great job with communicating. There was a week where our child had to do his lesson remotely and they made the adjustment smoothly, and we really appreciate the post-session notes. Our son loves to learn at Coder School: we're even doing the summer camp! If you have a child who is interested in coding, this is a great place to get them involved."
