"One of the best Churches in the whole wide world. The congregation is warm and welcoming of people from all walks of life and all faith backgrounds. The head pastor Rev. Molly is incredibly kind and supportive. Worship is lively, intimate and heartfelt, and the sermons are given by a roster of brilliant preachers. There’s a small but excellent choir. The church is a historic building and once of the oldest existing churches in Berkeley. Very supportive of LGBTQ+ and Black and Brown people, and a diverse congregation. Whether you are wearing a suit and tie or blue jeans, you will be greeted with a smile. Pan de Cielo, the Church’s food assistance program, distributes staple foods on Fridays 10-11:30am. This Church is a great example of love in action."
"The Good Shepherd is a GREAT place with warm friendly people who truly care. They offer AA meetings, Food pantry on Fridays and they do a brown bag lunch on Mondays for the homeless. If you get a chance, stop by and say hello."
"Great work with the poor, and of course with your spiritual needs. Even during COVID-19 they have a food pantry every Friday at 10am. People usually start showing up around 9:15 to be one of the first ones in. And at 12 noon they hand out sandwiches for everyone. And every Monday they make 120 brown bag lunches for the homeless which they distribute around town."
"They support the local and sometimes illegal workers who ignore the posted signs for allowable work pickup areas. Really dislike the local environment they help support- don't enjoy the little gangs of guys just hangin' on the corners leering at woman. Otherwise I'm sure their programs help people in need which is nice."
"Beautiful building, good sermons by a variety of ministers. Gender-neutral language. Traditional hymns and alternative music. Love the priest in charge, she's open and friendly. Love the food ministries to the day laborers and neighbors. It feels like Berkeley to me."
