"I used to be a parishioner when I lived in Lakeside. Though it is no longer my official parish, I come here frequently. Father Derek is an amazing Pastor. All the deacons and priests are solid Catholic men, which is desperately needed today. We need to speak truth, even if some liberal forces within the church disagree or are lukewarm about Catholic teaching. God bless this parish."
"I travel to Lakeside just to go to Mass, to be in such a friendly, loving community! Amazed that they offer confession (12-12:30) and a rosary just before the 1PM Spanish mass, like in Spain! The priests and Deacon are blessed with wisdom and knowledge!"
"Beautiful church, good homilies. As a visitor, however, the choice of electric guitars and bass struck me as less reverent than I would prefer. (Home parish of Queen of Angels in Alpine) In addition, it is a small thing, but the altar servers are not supposed to sit in the Deacon's chair during mass simply because no Deacons are present."
"The catechism classes were held for a time in the boiler room under the church. The nun used to open the furnace door and point at the fire and tell the CHILDREN that's where they were going. They also beat my hands with metal rulers for asking questions. A lovely place indeed!"
"OLPH church is a couple of miles from the 67, but it's nestled in a good neighborhood. The inside of the church is well decorated and well taken care of. The office staff members are extremely friendly and helpful. They still have that small-town vibe that is so attractive. The pastor, Father Ron, is warm and caring. The parish also has a welcoming community room, classrooms for religious education, and a huge parking lot. Probably the best part of OLPH is the people. They are really tight-knit and care for one another. Definitely worth a visit when you're in San Diego County."
