"I hired Ken Lee from this law group. He came highly recommended by the Vesta Divorce Group, which turns out they just recommend their professionals because they are part of the referral list (no vetting). At the time of interviewing Mr. Lee, he said all the right things and I was confident that I was represented properly. However, as soon as I signed the agreement, I was charged for every email, was it just to forward me what was sent to the other party or a repeat, follow up email, just to hike up my fees. As a result, after the first month of just emails, I had a bill for over $1,000 just for email correspondence! For each email I was charged 12 minutes of his time, even if it contained just one single sentence. I talked to Ken about it, but he was just ignoring my request to be more efficient with his correspondence (e.g. copying me on emails to the other party instead of forwarding me a separate email, sending needless emails). The following month, I had disclosure documents due, that needed to be submitted to the other party. That's when they went really wild and charged me for formatting and other work preparing the documents over $11,000! I was in shock and asked if there was a mistake in the hours they charged me. But no, it was very much all correct. I worked with other attorneys before and I've never felt so wildly taken advantage of. Mr. Lee is a poster example of the prevailing stereotype of a money-grubbing opportunist lawyer, who exploits his clients to fulfill his law firm's billable hours quota to protect his partnership status. I was billed after the fact, without being asked or made aware of the supposedly "huge" workload they had from my neatly and organized pdf documentation. Oh, and there was basically no tangible progress of any kind in my case in 3 months, but why rush it? Weeks after I cancelled my contract with him, they sent me another bill for courier services on the disclosure - also not something I had approved nor that I can verify that it actually happened. You deserve better, don't walk, run away from this law firm."
