"haven't even started classes yet and I must say I am disappointed. The admissions team is horrible, especially the coach who I was assigned. He never responded to a single email, yet someone from admissions called every day. The phone system must not work because every time I answered a call I was either hung up on or the call immediately dropped. I asked for all communication to be through email.... still no response through email. My application was missing a few things - figuring out what was missing felt like a scavenger hunt because I had to go digging for the information. From day 1 I was given misinformation regarding classes, flexibility, and cost. Getting questions answered regarding cost is impossible - I start classes in less than two weeks and still don't know if I can even afford this. My advising coach made me feel like I was asking for too much when I asked some pretty standard questions regarding what is expected of me. It felt like she was consistently trying to avoid answering questions. The lack of organization and basic knowledge from the team is concerning. I really hope this is not an accurate representation of what the masters program will be like. At this point, I don't know why I am still considering going to school here. ***UPDATE*** Senior leadership still has yet to reach out. Advising team has dropped the ball again. The financial team is the only team that is helpful and super nice. Admissions and advising are so uninformed that I am baffled as to how they even work here. I regret choosing this school and I havent even started classes yet. Someone needs to reach out and fix this ASAP or I will be declining my acceptance."
"I’m saying this as a student of this institution in the California Teacher Credential Program. I’m going to talk about 3 areas that this institution fails at. The areas being the advising staff, the teachers, and the overall program. About all this institution is good for is being able to start whenever you want to, but that’s it. I would highly suggest just getting an emergency work permit and waiting for the CSU application period to open. Advising Staff: The advising staff as a group, are a bunch of people who don’t care about you at all, have no accountability unless you threaten to contact the Dean and are a revolving door. I personally had to contact my first Academic Advisors boss since she wouldn’t respond to my emails at all. When I sent an email saying I would be contacting her boss, I got a response within an hour. My Clinical Supervisors were no better. One couldn’t be bothered to find me a Student Teaching placement which put me in the position of having to wait another school year to finish my Student Teaching/Intern Requirement since I had a job. My second one didn’t bother doing the paper work with the school district I worked for and I had to email the program Deans to get him to do his job. He had 12 weeks over the summer and end of school year to sort out the paperwork and just didn’t do it until it became an emergency on the school districts side of things. Near as I can tell, everyone I have worked with up until this point has left the institution. Teachers: I refuse to refer to them as professors since it would tarnish the title for the professors that I have had in the past that have been legitimately good teachers and people generally. There is only so much face time you can get with them when you only meet 1 hour per week for 2 months, but they also don’t really care to much about you. They clearly care a lot more than the Advising Staff, but when compared to a bunch of people that are negligent with near impunity, it’s a low bar clear. But even so, I have roughly 12 teachers and only 1 was worth it to me, imho. The rest were mediocre to actively damaging to my professional development, again imho. The Program: This is my biggest issue over all. The program is filled with a constant barrage of blatant hypocrisy and unless you’re accustomed to double think, I don’t suggest subjecting yourself to it. It’s a program that goes on about the newest trend in education like Universal Design for Learning, a Positive Asset Based Approach and technology based learning. Other than meeting on Zoom, the content is 15 years behind the curve. Some of what is lauded as the future are things I experienced in middle and high school when Bush was still in office. As for a Positive Asset Based Approach, we’re told to not be too critical to our students, but this doesn’t stop your professors from giving you a constant barrage of negative, Deficit Based criticisms. A recent event based around this is why I am posting this review. The hypocrisy is just too much for me to continue to bear without making it semi public. So if you are considering this program, don’t sign up. I completely regret going here. Unless you can tolerate a constant line of hypocrisy from the program, an Advising Staff that’s MIA, and teachers who you won’t know at all. I know the grass isn’t necessarily greener at a public university, but you’ll be paying a fraction of the cost. I’m currently $25k into this program, the going rate at a CSU is around $7k."
"I’ve been attending UMass Global and for a few quarters and I am almost complete with my teaching credential. Do Not Come Here. This is Literally The Worst School Administratively. You’re just going to be a dollar sign to them and no one’s going to care about helping you. The Professors are Solid, but a few are let’s just say outdated. But getting your funding is such a hassle. Every single Quarter the school does not give me my funds on time or withholds them well into the quarter. Not worth it, just attend a Traditional College and get your degree there. I made a mistake by coming to this school. Point blank, This school demands their money and payment asap to continue classes, but can’t even pay you on time."
"I attended to get my Liberal Arts and Science Degree. Tired talking to them with a payment plan but they expect to get paid instantly in order to continue my classes. So I stopped taking the courses. If the school a “Non Profit” where does all the money going to? Not worth it unless you got enough to pay."
"Staff is helpful when it comes to planning. This review is solely for course expectations and teaching method of most of my instructors. I should've stayed at Chapman University transferring to this school has been my biggest regret. Every course I've taken requires a paper due every Sunday. Everything has been self taught through reading and pointless YouTube videos and pointless web links. There is no lecture videos from professors/no real lesson taught. It seems that the majority of professors copy & paste links relating to the subject for the week and the amount of work expected from each course with A+ performance while maintaining a full time professional job is unrealistic. Example: I was taking 2 8-week courses and each of those required 2 discussion post with a minimum of 500 words which required you to do extensive research equivalent to single spaced 1 page paper lead by responses to students plus an essay due every Sunday (one of these courses required a 4 PAGE weekly paper). APA format and everything that entails a college level paper. I have been extremely dissatisfied with the "lectures" and unrealistic expectations. My financial aid won't cover me if I wanted to take a single course every 8 weeks. I am forced to take 2 classes in order for my financial aid to offer a loan. This is the reason why I haven't been able to finish because the amount of work and time doesn't permit for me to perform my best to pass these classes. Do you research and read through these reviews before applying."
