Reviews
"For all the bible loving white moms out there- everything in your review is absolutely incorrect. The curriculum given to the school is a California state standard, not the school's. And as for the whole, "islam is being taught and christianity isn't!" argument, the school does not teach any specifics of the religion of Islam, just the culture and the origin of the religion. They do the same for Christianity, they even do the same for Buddhism. I went to the school from 6th-8th grade so I would know much better than a mom who saw that there was an Islam Chapter in her kid's textbook. By the way, the school itself is very nice and has great teachers (Jefe), though the principal needs to realize the difference between a Preschool and a Middle School and start treating the students as young adults, not infants."
"Islam is taught at my children’s Catholic school as well. All major religions: Islam, Buddhism, Christianity are discussed in social studies class as part of history so they understand the world they live in and its history."
"I really like middle school I enjoyed it very well. I've learned so many skills. All the class & making new friend each year that I was there"
"In what way did the school publicly promote Islam?"
"I hardly ever do this, but feel the need to address the blatant ignorance from some of the commenters. Not one person has said they spoke to their child about it. Well, I did. He was very clear with me that what was taught was history and culture - of several religions - including Islam, Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism and surprise - Christianity! Oh and a couple of these religions talk about the "one true god". If you ever want your child to become a global citizen, then you have to be open to the fact that there are ideas and cultures outside of your own. Teach your children to look at the world from different perspectives. And before you so proudly spew something you saw on Facebook, how about asking some questions, have a discussion. Show your kid what it is like to think things through the way an adult should."
