Reviews of Blue Pacific Yachting
"My group had a wonderful time sailing! The wind wasn’t as energetic as I might have liked, but everything else was splendid. The office staff, Ellie and Ruth were all super helpful, and our point of contact, Noah, was thorough with his briefing as well as understanding that the minor in our party was nervous and Noah did his best to put the child’s anxieties at ease. Should I find myself in the LA area once more, I would definitely book with them again."
"I just took the three-day ASA 104 (bareboat) and ASA 114 (catamaran) course with instructor Greg. Organized as a trip from Marina del Rey to the isthmus of Catalina and back. The boat was gorgeous and in absolutely pristine condition. Greg did a great job balancing direct instruction with standing back to provide hands-on experience. His maneuvering drills among mooring buoys were particularly helpful. Maybe not the stuff of sailing fantasies, but getting your boat safely to its mooring without incident is in fact the foundation of a good sailing trip. These were not my home waters (I'm out of SF Bay), which was kind of the point. My classmates/shipmates were also from various places around the country. They were all pleasant and capable, which made it engaging to learn from each other. If you're serious about learning how to skipper well, and having fun while along the way, Blue Pacific is a good choice."
"I have chartered Benetau 40 from Blue Pacific Yahting for a week to go to Catalina. Check in was quick and the person who showed us the boat did a great job. The boat was in slightly less than ok condition. The power outlets died with a burst of sparks when we tried to use them for the first time and killed the whole shore power electric circuit. WHF died completely in the middle of our charter. The dinghy engine started when we were checking it, but it turned out (later on) that the engine has a flooding problem. I spent long time trying to start it. Could actually start it only two times. The cord was worn out and I was afraid it could rip apart. Had fun time rowing it against the wind and waves and had to cancel our trip ashore for the last day. This problem was also mentioned by previous customers who left notes about it in the log. It felt terrible seeing how the excessive fuel goes from the engine right into the ocean. The worst part is that the company cannot do anything to fix the situation. They don't have a boat to come to Catalina and fix/replace stuff. May be I'm too spoiled by Dream Yacht charters who traveled 30 miles to us on BVI to fix stuff. Another uncool part is that they charge you extra for using dinghy and when I asked about the refund the said 'no' because the engine was starting during the check in. Well, yeah, my complain is not that the engine doesn't start at all, but the flooding, which makes you trying to start it multiple times and worn out cord that makes the engine unusable. The check out was quick. The guy who did it also helped us with refueling and docking, which was a great experience for us."
"Did my ASA104 with them and had a wonderful 3 day cruise out to Catalina and back with an extremely knowledgeable and friendly skipper. Definitely will be doing more ASA classes with them!"
"Instructor Lori took my buddy Greg , other students, and I out to Catalina for our 104 and 114 certs. We had an amazing time and learned a ton - I've already recommended the course to my sister who lives in the marina. Also special thanks to Ruth who helped organize the trip over email."
