Reviews of Cliffside Apartments
"The apartments are in a really nice neighborhood right along the bluffs and close to hiking and biking trails, as well as across from a park/playground. The condition of the apartments are pretty good especially considering the cost of rent compared to other rentals in the area. I’d definitely recommend for other single, working professionals!"
"We've rented here for a couple of years now, and have never had any issues. Our apartment is one of the updated ones, so it has nice cabinets, new flooring, etc. There's no noise from the hallway or other occupants other than right near our door. For the most part we are left alone. The snow rules are slightly annoying, but I would rather have a plowed parking lot honestly. We have never had any issues with getting maintenance to fix things. Management has been very very kind to us, and we have never had a problem with anyone else in the building. Overall a very professional and nice place to rent from, and I say that with having dealt with slumlords in the past."
"Please see the other review by "John Anonymous", he's spot on. Two things he left out; 1. You must walk to the dumpster to throw your garbage in. Doesn't sound like a big deal ... but that one dumpster serves about 12 multi-dwellings, which means, if you rent a place and forget to ask about garbage ... you'll find out after you've signed the lease that your receptacle is 1.2 blocks away. 2. Nazi winter parking. As John mentioned, when it snows more than 1", you are to know that you must move your car. You will get towed, and it will cost you money. Your parking spot goes away all day essentially, and now you're stuck moving your car after you dig it out from the snow bank the city plow left, then hopefully you can make it down the street somewhere, then walk blocks back to your apartment, hopefully not breaking your rear slipping. Both of these factors make it impossible for anyone elderly or handicapped to live in this situation. Almost every apartment has steps to deal with, only one has a ramp option. Had a handicapped neighbor that had to threaten them with the disability act just to get them to pick up her trash from her door. (as it should be) Again, John is spot on in his assessment of the management/owner and lack of maintenance. If they can Jerry-rig it, they sure will. Electrical work and plumbing should be done by licensed professionals, not the same people that unclog your toilet. Plenty of rentals in LaCrosse that have rave reviews, avoid Cliffside Apts / North Lakes Properties .. as they are fancy slumlords that can be confrontational while smiling. Worse than Nikolai Apts. Good luck in your search, and be sure to test everything from furnace, to flushing the toilet .... and read every line of the lease before you sign. Some can be uncanny. I had one landlord that had a clause I missed, whereas they could enter the apartment at-will without notice for inspection. Stunner when I had a neighbor alert me the landlord walked in without knocking!!"
"Good Location, over priced apartments (for what you get), poor customer service, poor maintenance, cheap construction with paper thin walls and ceilings. Lived there 2 years. It started off alright but the place started falling apart and the maintenance (if/when available) "rigs" things not fixes them. Rotted plywood Kitchen/bathroom cupboards. My bath tub has been leaking for over a year! I don't even bother to ask them anymore they pay for the water so let it leak. If you call and can ever get a hold of the management they tell you one thing and do another (no Honor/integrity, lie to your face). Also A great place to listen to “scurrying” of rodents in the walls. Finally do not be a shift worker or a US Army Guardsman otherwise your car may be towed while you sleep or are away serving our country because they want it moved and will not call you, it's a wonderful feeling walking outside to go to work and not seeing your car or get home from a field exercise and think you've been robbed. I would not rent from North Lakes Properties again and if you are reading this you should not either. It took time to write this to help others please "help me help you" and look for another apartment option. You are welcome."
