Reviews of The French Spot
"I've been coming here since they took over this space that used to be Mr. Holmes. They've done a great job making it their own with the decor and their pastries. I've had many of their pastries and the one that stood out the most for me is the ube mochicro: a croissant with ube frosting and ube mochi inside. I don't think I'm being biased because I'm Filipino and love all things ube. It's actually really good croissant! I love the flaky layers of the croissant with the chewy texture of the mochi. And the ube flavor is just right in sweetness. And don't skip the Nutella babka! As far as the savory pastries, I've had the ham/cheese croissant, the Korean garlic bun, and the margarita focaccia. I really liked the focaccia. It was fluffy and chewy. If it had marinara sauce, then it would've been a really yummy pizza. The quiches are really good too. Today I wanted to treat myself so I got the raspberry supreme croissant. It was decadent! And again, not too sweet yet still rich. It definitely hit the spot for me. Everyone that I met there had been so nice. There's a few places to sit, inside and out, but most people get theirs to go. Definitely stop by when you're in the TL for unique pastries."
"Cozy, clean and superb pastries. Solid coffee and friendly service. So many options. I had a raspberry croissant-ish pastry and it had a raspberry cream filling. Big enough to share."
"This little bakery/cafe is really cute. The exterior and interior of the place is really nice and very clean! The lady working up at the front was very kind and was nice enough to let me know her favorite pastries. As far as the pastries go, there is a LOT to choose from. There is a huge variety and it was honestly really hard for me to choose. But I ended up getting the tomato and spinach quiche and vietnamese coffee. I was pretty disappointed at the taste of the quiche and I ended up not finishing it. The vietnamese coffee was okay but I wanted to give this place one more chance and went the very next morning. I got the ube mochi and sweet potato pie. These 2 were definitely better but still not GREAT. Maybe it's because it tastes better when they're freshly made? So I recommend going right when they open. Also each pastry is $5 or more. It's quite pricey and it's not something I would get often."
"Perfect place for a nice Saturday morning coffee. I was amazed by the range of pastries they have in this cute little bakery. Everything looking so appetizing, wish I could try one of each. We ended up getting guava danish, spinach and tomato quiche, prosciutto fig puff, Kouign-amann, garlic cream bread. Everything was sooo fresh and sooo good. I’m glad this place is just couple of block from where I live. Definitely going back."
"The French Spot, nestled in the Polk business corridor, may seem unassuming from the outside with its simple decor and inconspicuous storefront. However, stepping inside reveals a treasure trove of delectable pastries. I've had the pleasure of visiting twice, and on both occasions, I was treated to great experiences. Their croissants and danishes are a true indulgence, boasting a flaky texture and delightful flavors. In addition to the classic offerings, they also showcase their creativity with unique options like black sesame. The bakery's repertoire extends beyond croissants, with a rotating selection of buns, tarts, and mochi to tantalize your taste buds. The service at The French Spot is friendly, adding to the overall pleasant atmosphere. Seating options, however, are a little limited, with just a few inside and outside."
