Reviews of Springs at Lake Elmo
"Great place to live. Apartments and facilities are clean and well kept. The apartment walls are thick so you rarely if ever hear your neighbors. Customer service is top notch and the fact that it's gated adds a bit of comfort as well. The only reason it's a 4 and not a 5 is because there is not a great solution for getting packages delivered to your door. They go to a holding area for you to pickup. Having said that, it would be very hard to find a nicer apartment complex in the area to live."
"1. During our final walk-through before leaving, the inspector said tenants rarely ever leave their apartments as clean as ours was and there was nothing that needed to be done. Then when I get my security deposit back, they kept $216.22 of it. When asking why I didn't get the entire deposit back, they tried looking it up in the computer and couldn't find the reason, but assured me they'd find out and contact me. Four months later I haven't heard a peep. Very deceiving. 2. The air conditioning is comically loud. Like a jet airplane taking off in your living room. You literally cannot have a conversation in the living room or kitchen without turning it off or yelling at each other. It's ridiculous. If they'd notified us of this before signing the lease, we would've looked elsewhere. 3. There is absolutely no sound insulation in the walls or between floors. If you live downstairs, you will hear every footstep and half the conversations of your upstairs neighbors. The front doors in every apartment have spring loaded hinges that cause the door to slam if you don't catch it as it's closing. You will hear doors slamming non-stop all day, every day. We had pictures fall off the wall when our upstairs neighbor would let the door slam. 4. Everything in the apartment is cheap builder grade material and the appliances are as basic as they come. They're charging 4 star prices for 2 star accommodations. The office staff and maintenance crew were generally very nice and responsive, and the location is close to everything, but the negatives far outweigh the positives at this property. I wouldn't live here again for half the rent we paid..."
"Please for the love of God fix the heater in the gym, it is always FREEZING in there. Almost every time I have been there it’s 54°, this is practically a heat wave. First of all, the heat isn’t even on. Second of all, I will be in the gym for 2+ hours and it will only go up 2 degrees when set on heat. Insane"
"Don't do it unless you're a fresh out of college and/or don't care about your living space. Where to start.. 1. Parking is horrendous all year round. They make you get a "parking pass" but I have never seen that enforced. There was a black crossover with a flat tire parked in a spot for TWO YEARS and I wish I was making that up - go look, I bet it is still there - go straight through the gates all the way to the T and its the car facing you. 2. I have never heard of such a terrible package/mail strategy. A garage that all tenants have access to with packages just roaming in there freely? Don't forget to mention there is a locker system for packages (maybe 50 lockers) that you have to PAY a service fee for but the lockers are either always full or not used so your package is on a pallet in a garage that all tenants can just take if they pleased. 3. AC unit is loud - like a plane taking off loud. 4. Nickel and dime, nickel and dime. Moving out? Be prepared to not get your deposit back and have to PAY in addition. $50 for paint(like wear and tear paint), $90 for carpet cleaning, $40 for scratch on dryer, $50 for electric range top cleaning and so much more?? It doesn't make sense. Where is the non-refundable deposit playing its part? Why so expensive? Variable community space fee every month.. but you also have to pay to rent it out. Make it make sense. 5. Dog park - disgusting. Most of the dog owners have no decency, poop everywhere. They were planning to have an agility course (why? but whatever, cool) done in Spring 2023, we moved out in October and there was no sign of an agility course. 6. Valet Trash - the intent is there, but not the execution. For making the tenants pay for this (no option to opt out) there should be more than one person picking it up. It takes hours so there is trash out all night, every night - yum. Just end the service, people can bring their own garbage to the dumpster. 7. Don't bother with maintenance. It'll take 3 + weeks and won't tell you when they are coming, they just show up randomly. 8. Don't use the amenities - pool is gross. I swam in there with my niece and there were globs of hair and it was cloudy. The gym was never cleaned and most of the tenants left without wiping their equipment. Not because they didn't want to, but because there were no wipes. 9. Don't get me started on the decorations of tenants - sure, it's their space, but Halloween or Christmas decorations out all year should be approached and not just by a "mass email notification" because trust me, no one reads them. 10. Management is flaky. I don't even think I could recognize two of them. They came and went frequently, that should have been my first sign that the place was below average. 11. The number of times that I had to wait in line because the gate phone wouldn't work or the gate was broken.. just get rid of the gate? The community isn't that safe to begin with - we saw the police there at multiple apartments on numerous occasions. And the fence around it is broken most of the year anyway because the snowplows knocked them over during the winter and they didn't get them fixed. All in all, just don't. There were so many things I wanted to look past, but the last few months were terrible. The community is too diverse in the aspect that the company couldn't find their audience to cater to (from families to retirees to college kids). It's overpriced, everything is cheaply done and half the needed effort is put in."
"I moved into Springs about two months ago. So far I am absolutely thrilled to be living here. The quality of the apartments is superb. We have a second-floor balcony that is extremely spacious. Management is communicative, competent, friendly, and responsive. The location is prime. The Woodbury area has many options for restaurants, shopping, and parks. Minneapolis is only 20 minutes away. I definitely would recommend living here!"
