Santa Maria Airport

"They used to offer many different flights to places like LA, Phoenix, Portland, etc. Now the only flights you can get are to Las Vegas of all places. It's such a sad, dinky, little airport. Used to be able to get a $150 round trip ticket to Portland, now I have to go to SLO's airport where the same ticket is about $500. Do better."

"The only airport that gives me and every other passenger I see the hardest time. I fly from Vegas to Santa Maria a few times a year and am only forced to pay a carryon in Santa Maria even though my personal bag meets the measurement and weight requirements. I’ve been hand searched every time at TSA including taking my scrunchie hair tie off my wrist. My boyfriend and I arrived for our flight early so we went to the bar, the bartender refused to take his ID because in her words “California IDs have raised text”. His ID is from Nevada but she didn’t want to consider that, comical for her to think TSA will scan his supposed fake ID to get on a flight. In my opinion there are way too many people on staff so they’re all bored just looking for something to do and have to question every single passenger. I have a much easier time navigating through international airports than this one. Unfortunately my family is in Santa Maria so I have no choice but to fly in and out of SMX. I hope the staff can improve, it would be nice to have friendly faces to see a few times a year when passing through the airport."

"Santa Maria Airport (SMX) is a convenient regional airport located on the southern end of Santa Maria, California. It offers commercial flights to major hubs like LAX. Despite its smaller size, SMX provides essential passenger services, including rental cars and dining options."

"I’ve flown a lot of airports and this by far is the quickest and easiest experience, HOWEVER please be aware when flying Allegiant. The staff is not tech savvy at all. The lady in the front took 20 minutes with one person and when it came to checking me in she couldn’t find the flight details. On 9/18/22 at 9:00am I was sitting down about to board, and I saw and heard the blonde and brunette lady stop several customers for NO reason threatening them that they would “would not let them board” unless they charged all of them extra for a carry on bag which clearly made the weight and carry on limit. Then when I was about to board I heard BOTH the brunette and blonde lady make racist remarks, and the brunette was laughing the WHOLE time. She was the initial person taking advantage of the customers. I plan on reaching out to Allegiant about this experience at the Santa Maria Airport. It’s terrible that staff think they can act this way and and get away with it."

"Stayed here for almost a week. Nice hotel that's literally build next to small airport - literally adjacent to the runway. They serve coffee until 11am and meals at the restaurant at normal meal times but do close down inbetween. The two Queen rooms were decent for what we needed. We saw some planes take off, including a cargo plane multiple times along with the numerous cesnas"
