Reviews of Coastline Christian Schools
"We love Coastline Christian School! This school is a hidden gem located in the business park of Alameda Bay Farm Island. When we first found this school we were surprised to find a beautiful, well-maintainted campus with a full-sized gym and turf soccer field tucked away just off the main road. They share the campus with the Bay Area Chinese Bible Church, which also allows the school to use their facilities for weekly student chapel. Although the school was historically most popular among the Chinese community, they are super welcoming of all students and in recent years the school has become more and more diverse (we are not Chinese). They do teach Mandarin as an academic subject (not immersion). We transferred our 8-year-old to CCS in 2022 at the start of 2nd grade, and were initially a little concerned that he would be behind his class in Mandarin having never had any exposure to the language before, but this worry was completely unfounded. The Mandarin teachers are so understanding and patient, are more than happy to work with kids at any level, and make the experience of learning Mandarin fun. To our surprise this is one of his favorite classes! Now that our 5-year-old has joined his older brother at the school this year we joke about how much they love to use this secret language that their parents do not understand. We are so appreciative that they are being exposed to a foreign language during these key formative years for language development. The class sizes are fairly small, in part because there are 2 classes per grade through elementary school. The early grades have both a teacher and teacher's aide. Our boys have been so well-supported and still academically challenged within their own capabilities. The teachers and school are great at providing resources for students that need more support while also providing more opportunities for kids who are ready for more of a challenge. They have an advanced math track in the later grades that allows kids to take geometry as 8th graders if they are ready, or to stay in the standard algebra track if that is a better fit. We also love that CCS does not overuse technology (e.g. iPads) in place of teachers providing hands on teaching. Of course they do use some technology (they have computer lab class, and use a limited amount app-based learning) but for the most part the work is done using more classic learning materials like textbooks and workbooks. CCS offers after-school sports, music classes, and various other enrichment programs all right there on-campus. Students can also participate in local spelling bee and math competitions and Odyssey of the Mind. There are opportunities for parents to get involved but there are no mandatory volunteering requirements."
"We are very pleased with the education our son is receiving at CCS; he has gained a strong educational foundation to prepare him for high school and beyond. Like some other parents, we were unhappy with aspects of the public school system, including poor leadership, weak curriculum, permissive attitudes toward disruptive students, and avoidance of meaningful engagement with parents. After enrolling at CCS we no longer felt like we were being kept in the dark. Student grades can be checked online at our convenience, school leadership is responsive and professional, and the curriculum is sufficiently rigorous. The Christian dimension to the curriculum is presented in a sincere and balanced way that we are comfortable with. CCS was a good investment in our opinion; any parents who are questioning the quality of education their child is receiving should consider it."
"As a family living in Fremont, there are several reasons why we made the decision to have our children commute to CCS. First, CCS puts an emphasis on endurance and study habits, which we believe are important traits to cultivate at a young age. Second, CCS has a great reading and writing curriculum, incorporating the Spalding method, known for its use of writing to teach reading. Third, CCS uses the Singapore math method, which is conceptual and concise in its mastery-based approach in building a strong foundation in mathematics. We like how CCS encourages parents to partner with teachers to ensure their children are developing good habits. We love that Mandarin is taught as a second language, and music opportunities, such as violin, start as early as 1st grade. Finally, our children seem to really enjoy the learning, friendships, and activities at CCS and want us to send them there year after year."
"Chinese Christian School is more then just a school to my family. This is a place where children can come to build a strong foundation. It is also a place where parents, teachers , students and staff can fellowship together. Our children love attending this school as they have learned so much and we have made many friends for a life time who support the same Christian values and character that CCS embodies. Chinese Christian School is a stellar school you can not afford NOT sending your kids to. It's an all in one package where extra ciricular activities such as music, choir, art, science, martial arts, chess, sports and much much more are easily available. The students here are taught to have an independent mind and to think for themselves in a structured environment. I have a piece of mind in knowing that my children have been able to flourish in our schools safe environment. If there is ever a question or concern, the dedicated and hardworking staff is readily available to listen and address any issues in a fast and timely manner. I feel truly blessed that a school such as Chinese Christian School exists, and that God has given our family the opportunity so that our children may be enrolled here. I encourage all of you to see for yourselves the positive changes that will come as your children grows and flourishes to their full potential . Ask me why I love Chinese Christian School and I will tell you that Chinese Christian School is a stellar, diverse and well rounded school to which I am proud to have my children enrolled here. Maria L."
"We have two children currently enrolled in CCS. We have seen significant changes in both, the faculty is nurturing and have done a great job to help our two boys develop into young men. I highly recommend them to anyone in the area."
