Reviews of La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Minneapolis Bloomington W
"Love the location. Close to the airport which is what we were looking for. We always do a park and fly when we travel and nice that it is offered. We have stayed here the last 10 years but the property seems like it is starting to get run down. Communication for the park and fly was not the greatest."
"Front desk personnel are friendly, courteous, and efficient during the check in and check out process. The 8th floor room was spacious, clean, and quiet. The available three express elevators got me between the lobby and my room speedily. The shower pressure was excellent, and the water was hot. Morning breakfast was plentiful, and the coffee was hot. I received the receipt for my stay in my email inbox as requested. The property is located in a corporate zone and is very quiet at night. The property is also conveniently located minutes from the expressway. I will be a return guest."
"Well... the hot water went out for a few hours during my stay, the room's ceiling was peeling, I was right on the other side of the elevators, and the batteries in the remote were near dead. And both of the room keys demagnatized, and we kept them nowhere near our cell phones. Otherwise, it was a pleasant stay. My wife stayed there 2 weeks ahead of me and waited for 1-1/2 hours for the shuttle. This was the time it arrived after she called down to the main desk. There is room for improvements, most definitely. But it is the only hotel with decent suites, and my room was a suite, but not the one we were expecting. Most are double bathrooms, and this one had a mini kitchen area with a peeling ceiling and a single bathroom. Lesson learned. Ask about the suite you reserved. And the WiFi was weak. May be it had something to do with being near the elevators."
"TLDR: Faded, dilapidated and minimum effort. Decent value of money, “pet friendly”means extra charges per day. Seems current owners are not interested in updating anything, except where absolutely needed and cheapest possible. Longer version: We had to come to MN for two days for business. Since we almost exclusively stay at LQ due to their general cleanliness and “pet friendly” status. Plus, Wyndham owns them, so general speaking- there are certain quality guidelines they must follow. This was NOT the case here. From the little things, like the outlets being so old and worn, a charger wouldn’t even firmly stay plugged in, and it resulted in not being able to charge phones or iPads. (See picture) We found work around by plugging them into the outlets? in the tiny microwave. Layers of dirt and dust in corners, and layers of paint on the walls that were cracked or so thick they split. The AC/Heat units were easily 20 years old, and while you think you can set the temps, you can’t. It’s remotely controlled from elsewhere. If you don’t believe me, turn the unit off, and it will still kick on by itself to heat or cool according to the parameters set remotely. To give you are clear picture, imagine a really nice but small hotel room from 10 years ago, and then imagine nothing replaced or updated , but worn out and painted over. It’s like the current ownership bought a dying hotel and is attempting to eke out every last drop of revenue at the cost of “savings”. This is usually where i would say “well the price charged should have indicated quality,” But I will tell you that it was not worth the $75 a night plus $50 per night for the “pet friendly” fee. The bathroom exhaust fans do not work which allows the humidity and steam to layer in on every surface and just…stay there. There is a sticky slimy layer to every surface and random long hairs up high everywhere which tells me the same cleaning towels used for the showers or sinks are used on the walls. All that said: I am a small business owner and I truly understand the value of money. I try to be frugal and find value before spending. But, after this experience, I would have happily paid another $200.00 for our two night stay to not experience this again, and we will do so next time. Also- do not try to pay cash for their highly marked up cost snacks at the front desk, you would assume you would at least get cold drinks and snacks that don’t look like they have been repeatedly crumpled or left out. Capitalism is boss, and if you don’t like the prices, don’t buy it. But I would hope onerous get drinks that weren’t lukewarm and crumpled snacks for the price. Speaking of, they refuse to take cash for the snacks, and they won’t let you add them to your room charges to settle at the end of your stay. We are talking about $14.00 here, when they have taken a $100.00 deposit on top of all the other fees and charges, on top of the room rates. “Bloody boomer” is the response some of you have, because you have no concept of life or reality. You are not the target for this, nor do I care about educating your mentality. I am including pictures of the stuff mentioned above, because anyone can write bad things online, I do try to provide proof."
"I have stayed here several times in the last 12 years. We even stayed on our honeymoon. It has taken a severe downturn. It used to be really clean, nice rooms and beds, good service. I recently stayed and will not stay again. My room was dirty, mold on the AC unit. Dated, off putting room. Shower did not drain. Bathroom was patched poorly and overall the whole room was dingy. This was a double bed room on the 17th floor. Elevator floors were constantly dirty (no snow to blame it on). Quite a few dogs so I could smell that as well. Lobby was dirty, especially the chairs which were noticeably stained and filthy. Breakfast was okay but odd small things like the tray under the cereal being covered in torn, old foil. Hot tub is now closed, it's boarded around and caution taped. Lights were out in the pool room, it felt dingy and creepy. Cold. Pool was freezing and gross. It was either quite dirty or very stained. I asked for assistance and was only offered a similar room and I didn't have time to switch so I stayed. No other refund was given. Overall just bummed out about it. Have loved it in the past, it's a good location and the shuttle has been good. Will no longer stay there."
