"Excellent school. The education my children receive is top notch. I have been very impressed with how our school has continued to provide an amazing education during this pandemic."
"We love this school! Our two boys are excelling here as a result of the amazing teachers, principal, and administrative staff."
"No school is perfect, but our family has had a very good experience with the Rocklin Academy Turnstone school. I had a daughter there from 2nd - 6th grade and my son, who is currently in 3rd grade, started there in Kindergarten. Our kids have presented some challenges. My daughter went through a 2 year period when she was sick to her stomach all the time due to a medical issue. She missed a lot of school, but her teachers and the staff were very supportive. In her 5 years there she only had 1 teacher that wasn't her favorite because she had a strict personality, but she still was a great teacher. My son has OCD and his teachers have been very understanding of our desire to find ways for him to adapt with minimal accommodations. And yes, his 'friends' sometimes tease him, but I feel it is something we as parents need to monitor and not only teach him how to handle it, but know when to step in and escalate things with the staff. There have even been times when he's had behavior issues that affected other children and they have worked with me to get past them. To address some other reviews, the school does teach anti-bullying through programs like Sami's Circuit as well as their monthly values, but school teaching can only go so far. - Teachers - some of the best I've seen. Very caring and work hard to bring out the best in every student. - Field trips - very educational, varied and fun. - Educational program - love Core Knowledge and the integration of more and more complex writing at a young age. - Parent involvement is solid and evident in all the school is able to provide through the PSP. - School principle, Mrs. Reagan is very involved and knows EVERY student by name. When the kids come into the classroom, they are excited to see her. Many of the 1* reviews are likely due to the issue with the reading of a book that was deemed inappropriate by many parents (including myself). As a pretty conservative parent, I didn't approve of the direction taken by the administration on this issue. But again, that's ONE issue, which did not have a direct effect on my son. I also fully realize that if I want to avoid issues like this, I would need to pay for private Christian school. I am not going to put down the school as a whole, or diminish the experience my children have had over this."
"David Patterson is a complete incompetant fool who has not a clue what goes on at the school and avoids conflict at all cost. He does not have the balls to stand up for his teachers or his students. We had a teacher - DiGino - invade my childs privacy in the rest room!! For my troubles we got CPS reported on US when we complained. Thanks DiGino - I hope one day we can return the favor. You might also want to keep your hands to yourself and stop leaving bruises on boys you do not like. She still works there! Another instance is when my child did his science fair project in 5th grade - his was a pratical experiment on affects of friction on a rolling care and how to reduce it. He got a "B" for his troubles after spending likely 20 hours on the thing (we built a track and everything). Another dirt-clod kid whose parents were Daves friend did his on butter fat content and affects on melting ice cream. Wow must have taken him what - 20- 30 minutes? He got an "A". If you have child with an IQ over 85 and you expect a higher standard from a charter school - save yourself some time and headache and go someplace else."
