"From my prior experience, the quality of meat was good, but came frozen. Most similar meat deliver services provide fresh meat that hasn't been frozen. Yet, their prices are higher than competitors. Since I ordered last time, the cuts have gotten smaller in size. And to top it off, their phone is perpetually off. It immediately goes to voicemail, but the voicemail box is full. You can't leave a message! I guess they want to do all inquiries by email, but I don't think I can trust them to get back to me in a short amount of time. I can't recommend them at all"
"Advertised beef as Kobe A5, but beef that arrived was from Kagoshima - a completely different region of Japan. Kobe beef can only come from the Hyogo prefecture, not just anywhere in Japan. When calling to resolve, the customer service was abrasive and dismissive. I'd recommend not ordering specialty beef as it there is a high chance you won't get exactly what you ordered."
"Bye bye Christmas Eve dinner! I still don’t have my order, so my comments are about the lack of customer care, communication, and service. I placed an order well in advance for delivery on Dec 21. On Dec 20, I had t received a shipping confirmation, and the dashboard said “suspected fraud.” I was having my order shipped to my Christmas family destination, and although Amex recognized the charge (& their software is likely better that Meat the Butchers), no one from the company had bothered to call. When I called, I was told “Oh _ we were just going to call you to confirm” Maybe - but there’s more. Friday - Fedex updates tracking to now show a Monday, Dec 24 delivery by 8pm. Way too late since we were going to serve the prime rib for Christmas Eve dinner. I received no call explaining what went wrong. I called from the airport as I was traveling out of state, and “ Melissa” tells me she has to transfer me to someone else. No apologies. She puts me on hold for 6 minutes, and then transfers me to her VOICE MAIL! Seriously. I have to call back, and now manager Victor tells me that Fedex never picked up orders on Thursday night. They’re trying to figure out what happened, and trying to get a delivery on Saturday, but no guarantees. As I express my anger and frustration, Victor tells me that I seem to be “bashing” him. I explain the following: - I spent $250 on beef that won’t arrive in time for dinner, so I’ll have to run all over a town I don’t know trying to find a substitute to cook for Christmas Eve. A refund won’t solve that mess. -Don’t just blame Fedex. Their first rep didn’t bother to call about the suspected ‘fraud” - The second rep heard the problem and never once said “I’m so sorry” or “I apologize- let me see how I can help”. She transferred me to her voice mail - essentially hanging up on me. - any company dealing with perishables and time sensitive deliveries has to have contingency plans. They ought to have the phone #s for their Fedex rep and as soon as the time passed for pick up should have been on the phone. They could have driven their products from their Vernon store over to Santa Fe Springs CA to the Fedex facility, or tendered to UPS. I’ll be spending tomorrow trying to find a rib roast for dinner. Maybe my order will show up Monday, maybe not. I still have no email apologizing, even though they know the order was screwed up. They claim I’ll get a refund, which likely Amex will have to help with. Maybe their meat is great. But their empathy and concern for customers is horrible, based on my interactions with 3 separate representatives. There are plenty of other high end meat companies, and I’ll never trust these guys with another order. Totally stressful and awful experience."
"What a fantastic place to order meat from. The shipping was perfect, the packaging, and the customer service all top of the line. Now to the product. WOW, This is by far the BEST meat that I have ever had. I will only order from MTB from now on. I can't find the right words to describe this perfection meat. I had the sirloin and it just melts in your mouth, the most fresh prime quality of meat you will ever have. Do yourself a favor and order today. They have a customer for life. Thank you Meat The Butchers."
"Self professed carnivore I cannot recommend this company enough. My first introduction was at a foodie friend's barbecue and it was love at first taste. He showed us how his order was packaged properly, made us salivate over the raw meat before it hit the grill and then had us ALL officially hooked when tasting the cuts he grilled. It was a glorious feast if I ever saw one! Personally I get so much of a culinary thrill to cook meat at home just the way I like it and their product is hands down top notch. Made sense finding out later that my favorite elite steak restaurants are also their customers. OK, now I'm hungry again!"
