Reviews of Bear Mound Park
"Boy did I feel awkward coming here. From out of town not driving a brand new vehicle I got the stank eye from the neighborhood folks walking their dogs. Quite upsetting. I thought it was a public park but I guess I wasn't welcome. Just like most places now you have to be so rich to enjoy beautiful spaces outside."
"Neat little neighborhood park. Lots of tall vegetation clusters, which are great for butterflies. Also, lots of trees, which are great for squirrels. I saw lots of butterflies and squirrels while I was here. No real amenities at this park and parking is extremely limited. No bathrooms, shelter areas, or paved walkways. The backside of the park is more level and would allow wheelchair access. You may have to park in the surrounding neighborhood area, as the streets around this little park are pretty tight."
"Breakfast at mckies dairy bar and a walk to this park to work it off is a perfect morning. Mature oak trees with little sections of prairie grass cover this park. It is surrounded by beautiful homes. It contains an 80 foot native American effigy mound, so glad this little slice of Wisconsin was saved within city limits!"
"There's not much to this little hill in the middle of the Vilas neighborhood! It's great for picnicking and watching the moon through the trees on a first date.. and then worth coming back to later for a marriage proposal... ah, yes. Proposal-worthy, this little mound is! :) (But actually, it's more of a little grassy hill than it is a park..)"
"I grew up in this neighborhood. Went to Longfellow Elementary. We played capture the flag and kissed girls on the mound. I think I smoked my first joint there. Many wonderful memories. Check it out. I highly recommend it. Definitely an interesting place to check out here in Madison."
