Reviews of HSHS St. Mary's Hospital Medical Center
"Nursing staff the WORST I have ever interacted with. I was told I was shouting and I looked angry- and she (the nurse) would cancel my surgery. I was speaking in my normal voice and was very nervous of course. I didn't know nurses had that authority. (they don't) My wife is a nurse practitioner with a dual masters degree, and she also worked many years as an e.r. and surgical nurse. She said she has NEVER seen such arrogant treatment of a patient in her life! Interestingly enough, When I mentioned my wife was an N.P., the nurses attitude did a sudden 180 degree turn. They should treat every patient with respect, not just those who know enough to put a check on them. In surgery I was denied blankets and placed on an ice cold plastic transfer plate and told to stop moving- I was shivering so hard I was almost convulsing, it was involuntary. Royal kicker- the surgery was totally unwarranted as they found 0% blockage of my arteries! They had gone in to emplant stents! Rating is not one star, it is zero."
"Had to ride in an ambulance to their Emergency Room, once they billed me and discharged me i then called back to see if I could talk to the Doctor who saw me in the ER because they took X Ray's and i had questions about symptoms I am still having but the lady i talked to on the phone was extremely rude and cocky from the start for no reason telling me to just go see my regular doctor and that their doctor has more important things to do even tho I don't have a regular doctor cause I just moved to this city. I was nothing but polite and respectful so i feel like her attitude was extremely undeserving. Not only that now I have to find a doctor because they are refusing to look at my x rays again for me. They said any doctor should have the same system as them and be able to look at my x rays for me, i guess they arent that doctor tho, I'm definitely picking a different hospital next time I have an emergency"
"My mom went into ICU not being able to breathe. They saved her life by thinking fast and putting the vent in. She is in rehab now and should be home soon. Thank you to all the wonderful workers in ICU. They are all loving and compassionate. Also, all other workers in the building were very pleasing and helpful with anything we needed. We are forever grateful!"
"Had surgery Friday morning. Adenoids came out. Nurses were good. Surgery was 1/2 hour early. Once they took me to operating room never told my boyfriend any updates. Not even Dr. HUNT. 2hrs. Nothing. Usually Dr comes in and checks on you. Never again that hospital."
"My husband was hit by a board at work. They sent him to St Mary’s to get it fixed. Even if I didn’t work in surgery, I would have been appalled at the fact that they stapled his face! Did they close the wound? Yes. Is it considered standard care to staple a face? Absolutely not! I have no idea why they thought this would be an appropriate wound closure. Not only is it poor decision making, it’s lazy. AND, they didn’t even cover it with a bandage and sent him back to work…where it’s dirty."
