Reviews
"This is a very natural setting, more for the wildlife than for humans/hikers, which is just fine with me. The relatively short trails are very narrow and overgrown in spots, and it's quite difficult to see much actually in the water because, as a very natural area, they didn't clear away much of what blocks your view of the water even though the trail is only 4-8 feet from the water in many parts. At this time of the year, you get a lot of exercise walking from your car to the pond because you have to windmill your arms the whole time to fight off deer flies and mosquitos. I honestly saw more deerflies in one hour here than I have in the last 10 years combined in all other places. You can get a pretty good view of the natural area behind the pond, which is a very old/mature bog with a lot of dead trees. If you want to see green herons--this is the place. I've been to Horicon Marsh many times, Heckrodt Wetlands in Neenah, Necedah, etc. and I had never seen more than one or two green herons at any of these place. Today in an hour or so I saw and heard probably 15-20 green herons, maybe more, mostly up in the tees 10-20' high. They are pretty skittish as I bet they do not see too many people. Cool place, but I'd definitely go earlier in the season next time, before the mosquitos are so bad. (I was covered with mosquito spray.)"
"A nice place for a walk - but not in summer. It's too buggy, and trails get soggy and muddy especially after these heavy rains."
"This little gem is easy to miss. The area is mostly wetlands and a few ponds. Always peaceful and never crowded"
"Beautiful place to walk and be in communion with nature :-)"
