"Love this school and everything it has done for my kids and for our family. All three have very different personalities and educational styles and needs and OHDS has catered amazingly to them all. I've been so humbled by how well the teachers know each child and how invested they are in their success. My graduates were so well prepared for their high schools and I love that they have a such a strong sense of identity and community."
"We love Oakland Hebrew Day School! Our 4th and 2nd graders have learned so much in both General and Judaic Studies. More importantly they are learning how to be kind, thoughtful and grateful. OHDS teachers and faculty are fully invested in having strong connections with each child. The community is extremely diverse and accepting. If you are shopping around for an excellent elementary and middle school, take a tour. You will be amazed at the beautiful environment-- filled with art and folks that love being there."
"Our son started Kindergarten at OHDS last fall. I have been very impressed by how well the school seems to be able to do it all: it has a strong academic program, serious Jewish studies, daily Hebrew language instruction, and a refreshing emphasis on character development. It is also very welcoming to those families who are not religious but who simply want the best possible education for their children. If you are looking into top private schools, it's definitely worth a tour of OHDS, even if the Jewish studies are not your top priority. I personally attended some well-regarded independent schools in southern California (High Point Academy, Polytechnic School) and by comparison I am very impressed with OHDS."
"OHDS is a place where students receive a phenomenal education, and are gifted with the beauty of Jewish learning and tradition. Their minds grow from the study of Hebrew as a second language, they are challenged to think critically in all of their classes, and they grow to be young men and women with impeccable character traits. It is a school that creates true community, not only for the students, but for their parents as well."
"All three of my granddaughters have attended OHDS. The time one reviewer called "lost" on Judaic studies is more than made up for by the incredible teacher-student ratio, something like one teacher for every four students. As a result of this intensive, personal teaching, OHDS students are academically way ahead of their age mates in the public schools."
