"My husband and I were at Symphony Hall for the first time on Feb 29th, 2024. We went to see Comedian Matt Rife. We sat in the lower level, Side section, Row M, seats on the outside aisle. At first we were excited about our seats, because we thought we could see well. We went to the late show, at 10:30. The show didn't start until 10:55. There were 2 opening comedians. Based on where our seats were, and the placement of the speakers, we couldn't hear the audio, at all. When Matt Rife came out, same. Having paid a lot for our tickets, we got up and stood in the back behind the wheelchair row, and could hear perfectly. Also, security had difficulties controlling the crowd. Of course, the audience was laughing, and Matt Rife often plays off comments from the crowd. But there was a lot of noise, and yelling from the crowd, that wasn't laughter or banter with the comedian. I am giving Symphony Hall 1 star for the following reasons: poor audio in some areas of the theater, poor crowd control, and for the show not starting on time."
"I have attended for the symphony, Banff Mountain Film Festival, and a kids Bluey showing. This is a special and unique venue for the City of Duluth. It is slowly its age but still in very nice shape. Definitely worthy of a visit for an event. Important to have community support foe this event."
"The concert was enjoyable. Seating SUCKED. I had to sit sideways in my seat and still my knees were pushing on the seat in front of me. I'm 5'7" so not exceptionally tall. When leaving concert, most others were commenting on how horribly tight the seating was. I'll never go to the DECC for an activity in the hall again. I'd post a picture, but not finding that option here"
"Can't give a good review because they didn't alert us the event was cancelled. Showed up and were told at the parking check point. They gave us replacements tickets which would be nice but we don't live in Duluth and the date of the replacement is 3 months away. Very disappointed in how unprofessional this was."
"The theater has great acoustics and a large amount of seating for the space. It would be nice if they could upgrade the seating. At least some cup holders would go a long way. The seats can be uncomfortable for longer shows, and you do get the feeling of being squeezed in. Overall, small gripes that have a minor impact on viewing enjoyment."
