Reviews of Serenity House Network, LLC
"Serenity House offers comfortable, clean, and affordable homes near Mayo. I would recommend them on that basis alone, but their staff are kind, compassionate people that truly care about their renters. Thank you all for making our stay in Rochester so much more enjoyable!"
"Clean!! Lovely!! Well stocked kitchen!! We had 3 days notice to find housing. After we received info from Jay (concierge Radiation) we worked with Greg & June Ann to find something that would meet our needs. They were wonderful and compassionate and felt that we left as friends when our stay was over. Bless them and all who need them!"
"We loved staying at the Serenity Network apartment. We stayed in the Annie’s house in the Doris apartment during my kidney transplant stay and we couldn’t have asked for better accommodations. We stayed there for a month. The apartment was very clean, and the beds were so incredibly comfortable, with a tv in the King size bedroom as well as the living room. The apartment complex was very quiet and we felt very safe and secure. The apartment was absolutely everything a person could ever need. They have thought of absolutely everything. Such kind caring people that run the place. We will definitely be staying in one of their places whenever we need accommodations while in Rochester."
"I stayed at Serenity House Network Sunny Place cottage after my kidney transplant. It’s was an excellent experience. The home was spotlessly clean and had all the things I needed to be comfortable. The hosts were very nice and made my stay as easy as possible in a stressful time- even afterward giving me everything I needed to have my insurance reimburse me. The yummy cinnamon bread as a welcome was nice too. I would recommend to anyone. Thank you"
"My friend and I rented an apartment in Annie’s Hospitality House a few years ago while he was getting treatment at Mayo. It smelled strange and the AC was noisy, but we dealt with it. At first the staff was pleasant and accommodating; they even picked me up from Mayo to drive me to the apartment for a tour. Unfortunately, my friend and I ended up needing to move out after just one month due to my friends’ severe healthcare needs. That’s when everything changed. The day of the move-out inspection my friend was feeling very sick from chemo. We had just been at Mayo for a few weeks from out of state and had no friends or family in the area who could help us move. I remember the move-out task list was really long and I spent most of the day washing, drying, and folding towels and bed linens on top of caring for my sick friend. We had technically paid through the morning but were asked to leave that night so their cleaning staff could come very early (7 am) the next morning to prepare the apartment for the next tenant. We agreed with this plan and had already secured a hotel suite for the remainder of the necessary medical treatment weeks. When the staff showed up for the inspection, we asked for a couple more hours to get everything out, but they acted as if it was a huge inconvenience and their charm turned hostile. My friend apologized for needing extra time and explained he was sick and that I had been by myself packing and cleaning all day and Greg literally looked at my friend and said with an irritated tone, “I’ve got 22 tenants who are sick.” He could have chosen many other things to say in that moment, but he didn’t. He could have shown empathy and kindness, but he didn’t. He could have shown patience and respect, but he didn’t. We had not had any issues prior to this day and were surprised that he could look at someone, especially someone obviously going through cancer treatment, and say something so insensitive. I might not be surprised to find this type of apathy and coldness in an apartment manager in a normal city, but Rochester is NOT a normal city-it is MedCity. If you are going to advertise rental properties specifically for Mayo Clinic patients and their families, then you should be sensitive and flexible to meet their needs. Otherwise you are just taking advantage of sick people in possibly the worst times of their lives and that is one of the worst things you can do. You never know what someone is going through in life, so it’s important to be respectful and empathetic even while business is conducted. The Mayo Clinic is ranked the #1 hospital in the US and its patients deserve better than what the Serenity House Network gave us that day. I hope that no other tenant, patient, caregiver, or family experiences the attitude from the Serenity House Network management that my friend and I experienced. I would expect MORE empathy and kindness from an apartment manager near Mayo who has “22 sick tenants,” but that was simply not our experience. People do the best they can with what they have at the time, and when we fail to remember this, we start viewing others as though they are trying to manipulate or cause problems. I was doing my best that day despite the incredibly difficult situation and I was embarrassed that I even had to ask for 2 hours of extra time to finish the task list and move everything out. I already felt bad that we weren’t ready at the agreed upon time for the inspection and my friend already didn’t feel well because of his medical condition. But then to be treated that way on top of it all was really the icing on the cake. Unfortunately, my friend passed away 9 months ago and while we had many great times together during his final years of life, we never forgot how we were treated that day by a business claiming to serve Mayo Clinic patients. My advice to the Serenity House Network: Know thy impact. Life is too short to be anything other than kind."
