"The financial services department has been extremely frustrating to work with. As a first time mom and newly postpartum they have added so much stress and frustration to my life. They leave me voice messages and when I call back they act like they have no record of ever talking to me before. They were saying my account was going to be sent to collections despite not having sent my baby’s claims through insurance. They are extremely slow to send itemized bills and were not able to help me with where to find the information on their portal. Some of the representatives were understanding but others were completely lacking empathy and blatantly rude. They told me the reason they were not submitting to insurance was because I never provide the ID number - which was not accurate. I don’t think gaslighting your postpartum patients is an effective strategy to prevent PPD / PPA… The birthing area was nice which is why I give them 2 stars. However, the day I delivered my baby the midwives were pretty much nowhere to be seen. If they are so busy I would have expected them to call in reinforcements. The nurses were nice except nobody believed the amount of pain I was in the day after delivery. I was sobbing and shaking with pain just trying to get to the bathroom- which prompted them to finally take a closer look. Turns out I had a hematoma! If I decide to have another baby it won’t be here."
"My almost 90 year old mother was brought in to the ED by ambulance this afternoon with internal bleeding. While I went to park the car, they sent her out to the ED waiting room without her walker or wheelchair on her own. Told us she had to wait out there as her “acuity” level was determined to wait?? What? We sat there for almost 4 hours. Finally said enough! Mom was freezing and could take no more. Had to get a nurse to take out the IV the EMS put in in the ambulance. They sent a tech out to the waiting room to do it. What??"
"Shout out to Nurses, Caitlyn, Natalie and Bre, on Floor 4W for the excellent care that our daughter received this past weekend. From the ER dept to 4W, every professional whom we encountered was exceptionally caring. The house physician and the 2 surgeons took time with explanations and made great decisions to help our daughter avoid surgery. Highly recommend this hospital!"
"The layout is a bit challenging and charging patients to park just so they can receive care or visit a relative is cruel, imo. Staff is quick to point out that there's a free shuttle, but I waited 23 minutes on a Wednesday morning in temperatures around 20°. They also said that this is 'becoming routine' for city hospitals but that rings hollow in St. Louis Park. Waiting with me to me was an elderly cancer patient who pointed out that her insurance doesn't cover the new parking system. I offered to drive her in my car to one of the doors but she had an oxygen tank and thankfully the shuttle finally came. Seriously Methodist, is this the patient experience that you want? Is this what we think the healthcare experience should be? It seemed to overshadow everything else about my care: that someone calculated that shuttles and shuttle drivers are better than figuring out how to either build more parking or offer lot parking for patients who need it most. I would go out of my way to not go here again for this reason alone."
"Making patients pay hourly now for parking is absolutely heartless. They already make their nurses pay to use their own lot now we can’t even get discounted vouchers for single visits we have to buy a punch card. How is that supposed to work for us cancer patients who have no idea how many visits we are going to have to the clinic? And on top of all this the oncologists are chronically late to appointments so we have to pay extra for parking because of your bad scheduling skills. How is this not you trying to just make more money. You already get billions from us through insurance. Make parking free. Why do you need to price gouge us in this way? This isn’t to mention the multiple years a stairway was closed due to the pandemic. You won’t tell patients which floor their chemo treatment will be on and then they had to walk far away to an elevator to go to the other floor. Just bad planning and terrible management."
