Reviews of Talent Elementary School
"Over the past few years, many children with special needs have struggled at Talent Elementary. If a child decides to lure another off school grounds, the staff have proven their ability to go without noticing: it is likely the same result would come from a child being lured away from their unsecured playground or parking lots by an adult. Their inability to provide a counselor (when asked, was told by staff "We should have one," when trying to get a counselor's involvement under a duration of over five months) for many years and settling with a child behavior specialist who practices shutting out parental parties involved in a child's regular care, suggestive questioning of children, and who only knows parenting law through second-hand gossip and guesswork, has poorly served children who have limited resources outside of school or are experiencing a divorce between parents. Aside from boastful lip service, teachers make no moves to prevent bullying or violence at school, without an advocate engaging strong intervention, aside from vaguely notifying (their teachers' notes rarely match all the information given to guardians concerning an incident) a parent that there had been a discrepancy at all. It's likely that a request for a child to receive special assistance from a federal program will be deterred, if requested of the principal. Even if a child who experiences bullying makes a reasonable suggestion of how to solve a social problem (such as physically separating the parties involved), it's more common for teachers who claim to have zero tolerance for bullying to say "maybe," but take no action to prevent at-school aggression. The staff (teachers, principal, etc) respond to their emails with extremely limited diligence and, after more than three years of scholarly services, I'm left grateful that they at least bother informing parents of anything that goes on in our children's academic lives at all."
