About the Pio Pico State Historic Park
Pio Pico State Historic Park, located at 6003 Pioneer Boulevard in Whittier, California, is a fascinating tourist attraction that offers visitors a glimpse into the life of Pío de Jesus Pico, a prominent figure in California history. Pico, who served as governor of California during the 1800s, resided in the adobe home known as "El Ranchito," which has been meticulously restored to its 1880s appearance. The park, encompassing five acres of historic gardens and the adobe home, is a California Historic Landmark and features interpretive displays, a bread oven, and a dovecote. Guided tours of the adobe are available by appointment, and educational programs for school groups are offered both virtually and in-person. The park also partners with the National Parks Service to provide bus reimbursement for Title 1 schools participating in guided field trips. Visitors can explore the Mexican period of California history through interactive exhibits and learn about Pico's life, wealth, and the impact of events such as the Gold Rush and the Civil War on his ranchos. Whether picnicking in the park, bird watching, or biking along the nearby Greenway Bike Trail, Pio Pico State Historic Park offers a unique opportunity to delve into early California history and experience the legacy of a remarkable individual.

Reviews of Pio Pico State Historic Park
"Great history. Lots to learn about the Governor. Sad ending to a proud mann"
"Attended a wedding here. Such a beautiful venue! Area is peaceful, lovely. Parking is small, some designated parking, and okay to park in the neighborhood there (street parkinh) nd very few parking spots inside the venue (which w saved for the relatives of the wife & groom). so def uber. But very pretty. Lots of benches, restrooms were not too bad, def on the cleaner side. No playground."
"A LOT! of history here, sad to see his success be diminished to a couple of acres, yet again glad that at least he got that given how urbanized the surroundings are. You can clearly see how close this place is to its surrounding houses. In fact, there's a wall that divides the historic park to house, Very nice views nevertheless, and even though it's literally hugged by major streets and freeways, it feels very calm and as if you're miles away from the city. Very nice place to visit and a really good place to walk your pets, saw several locals walking dogs and they are very friendly. Also it's a very good place to have a football game with your friends, it even has stadium like sitting lol, no lie, really nice."
