"One day I went to Essentia ER for excruciating Abdomenal and back pain and was told after thay couldnt find out what was wrong Dr. told me to come back to the Essentia ER if nothing changed! 2nd day I returned and was the 1st one there but had to wait in waiting area 1/2 hr while 2 patients were called in before me with NO apparent serious issues!! Nurse was very nice but saw Dr. Joseph Bettendorf and felt completely dismissed! He was not compassionate and was abrupt. I will not go back unless I see somone else!"
"New hospital. New emergency room. Same terrible care. Last time I was there bed wasn't made, no pillow, no call light in my reach, bed rails not up. Doctor spent about 1-2 minutes in my room with me. Nurse didn't come see me for well over an hour. The most recent time I there I had a catscan done and the doctor took over five hours to come explain the results to me. I didn't even see a nurse for 2 and half hours. Good thing I wasn't dying"
"Just so everyone reading knows that the hospitals human resources department needs to be revamped. I know several people that are talented nurses that have a plied at this hospital and never got a call back. I myself am a nurse of over 30 years experience working on my nurse practitioners degree And I have never received a call back from this hospital! I was employed at Mayo Clinic with excellent references. What is the problem with this place! In a 3 1/2 decades, I have been working in the medical field. I have never seen a hospital with a 1.7 score! Get rid of your human resources ladies because they have no clue what’s going on! This hospital were shut down wait and see!"
"I was 4 weeks post op from a vaginal hysterectomy. I was experiencing intense pain, dizziness, and fever. Dr. Windstrom told me to be seen immediately. I waited 2 hours in the waiting room. Then waited more than 3 hours just to get a CAT scan done and another hour for the results. The nurse told me people were waiting over 6 hours just in the waiting room alone to be seen. The OB on call was never called nor was my incision site examined. I left the ER with no answers. The new ER location was nice and the staff were nice but the time it took everything to get done was horrific and neglectful. The old location was much faster and more proactive. Sadly, Essentia has really gone down hill. It was very disappointing."
"I wish I could give zero stars since we were NEVER even seen! We sat here for 4 hours. Staff came out to do vitals on everyone in the waiting room because it had been so long, not even wiping down the equipment between patients. We overheard a woman in obvious misery had been there for over 8 hours and had not yet been seen! We signed out, left, went to St. Lukes, were back into a room within an hour, and another half hour later pain was addressed & headed to x-ray. Brand new facility and still not enough staff. So bummed because they took such good care of my Grandma a few years ago. Now a lot of good doctors & nurses have left. Thanks for nothing Essentia!"
