Reviews of Grandma's House Child Care Center
"We moved my son to this day care after he had a bad experience at his previous day care. Initially, things were great and the staff really tried to work with him. He is a picky eater and napper, so I appreciated any effort from their part. Miss Rosa and Miss Lisa were wonderful with him and I could tell that my son really liked them also because he wanted to be close to them. I can't say the same for the other teachers he had while there. I even witnessed an incident while I was there with a little girl. One of the teachers who also took care of my son was taking a little girl out to the playground and the little girl was crying. Somehow, she pushed herself to floor and the teacher didn't even bother to pick her up or comfort her. She just sighed and said "Somebody come get her. It's only 8 in the morning and I am ready to go home". I found that very disturbing and felt really bad for the little girl. Once my son was moved to a different age group, I started noticing changes. He didn't want to go there anymore. Izzy was great with him also, but his other teacher Cat was not helpful at all. I tried making it work with her, but she was cold and distant and had many excuses for why my son was not receiving the care he deserved. Eventually, I was told that my son could not attend there anymore because they were not equipped to provide him with the care he needed. What I think is that his teacher Cat just didn't want to deal with him or us anymore. Needless to say, I did expect better from this place. The only reason I am giving them two starts was because of the previous teachers he had."
"Grandma's House has been fantastic for my boys. We have tried 2 other daycares, and they didn't compare. The way the classrooms are set up, along with the curriculum, make it the great place for early learning it is. I love the entire staff there, they are like my extended family. The teachers are outstanding, and Jess the director is one of the many reasons that we attend there. She is the best!! If anyone is looking for a daycare, I strongly recommend it. Best anywhere!!!"
"We've tried three daycare facilities in Brookfield and our toddler loves Grandma's house, leaps and bounds above the others. It is old school, has a warm but busy feel to it, much like a Grandma's house. It has a Grandma's house smell to it too (lol) but our toddler darts for the door every time we drop him off. The teachers are terrific. Miss Cat is wonderful and our son misses her on the weekends; talks about 'going to see Miss Cat.' We feel at ease with our son at Grandma's house. The only criticism is the quality of food they provide - I wish they offered more healthy choices."
"This center should not even receive one star. They are absolutely terrible in all aspects. Especially when it comes to children who need a bit of extra help. That is by far way too much for them to handle. They will make your child feel singled out and tell you your child is delayed, even after the state evaluated him and all test came back normal. The director and assistant director are rude and also give off attitude. I have also the assistant director grab children by one arm and pull them to discipline. If you want you child to success and not absorb all the negative energy then I highly suggest staying away from ANY Grandma's House Daycare. They do not work well with kids with needs, foster care or any sorts!"
"My husband and two girls (5 and 2) love Grandma's House in Brookfield. The staff is loving and kind. Our oldest is very high energy, strong-willed, not much of a sleeper, and a bit sensitive; yet, everyone there knows just what to do with her unique style to properly channel her energy, make her feel confident, and most importantly make her feel loved and safe. They've always been patient and caring. All of the teachers know all of the kids, regardless of the child being in their classroom or not. All of the children know all of the other kids throughout the entire day care and even the parents of those kids. It makes you feel like an extension of your family. We briefly switched to a different day care, only because it had transportation to our school district. We were so sad to leave Grandma's House, especially since we'd been there for 4 years. Within two weeks our oldest was begging not to go to her new school and our youngest cried profusely at drop-offs and pick-ups, she had never done that at Grandma's House. Based on a long list of reasons, we knew it was best to take the girls back to Grandma's house...my youngest hasn't cried once during drop-off and pick-up since being back at Grandma's House, as a matter of fact she ran into school that first day back and left my husband in the dust. My oldest constantly tells us how she loves being back at her "old school". If you want your child to truly be cared for, then this is the place to enroll your children. When you walk in you'll immediately notice all of the art projects covering every spare inch of space on the wall. You'll also hear chatter; it's the sound of happy kids playing and learning. This is what you want in a place that is looking after your children."
