"Ok I had not been back to this mission since the 80s and was glad I came again. SO MUCH history in the buildings. Good parking, no fee. $5 to get in person. Nice gift shop. The church is beautiful! It is long and high ceilings in architecture. The grounds are very nice and a big fountain in the courtyard. Give yourself a couple of hours or more to enjoy it all. Wonderful museum complex with loads of artifacts."
"A lovely little getaway from the city and great for pictures! Spent a good 3 hours exploring and reading all about the Mission, as well as enjoying a nice quiet sit down outside the garden, or inside the GORGEOUS church. They have plenty of rooms to explore and read about, as well as some very old relics! Some of my favorite things include the Madonna Room, the multitude of VERY old molcajetes, the wine cellar, the library, and Renaissance era Gregorian writings. There's plenty of parking as well! At only $5 for adults, $3 for kids, it's great to explore and learn about the history of San Fernando or just come to enjoy the calming nature of the museum. There's plenty of places to sit down and getaway from life. DEFINITELY come here once! Only bad thing is that you aren't allowed to carry backpacks into the museum :( So make sure to have your cameras and water with you!"
"Built in 1797 it is one of California’s famous 21 missions. Growing up in San Diego we have the oldest one in terms of date and I have seen about half of them over the years but I had not got the chance until this weekend to see San Fernando Rey. It is beautiful as expected with a wonderful mission style church and well kept gardens surrounding the whole property. I just got my stitches out from a foot surgery so I was looking for something easy but outdoors so I’m glad I chose to visit here. It’s always nice to check another one off the list and I would recommend to anyone."
"My kid has a class project about the California Mission and wanted to come here. I had heard of this place but never crossed my mind to make a trip. This is indeed a great place to visit. It’s beautiful, has an awesome church and has an excellent green space. My kids loved visiting this location. Parking was pretty easy to find and free. We also got a chance to see someone having their sweet sixteen event in the church. Loads of history and it could also be called a time machine. Definitely check this place out"
"We love this mission! We photographed a wedding here a little while back and everything about this place was amazing. Very clean and well maintained property. What's cool about this place is that it is the namesake for the entire San Fernando valley in which it resides. There is a lot of beautiful art work from many centuries ago and lots of cool rooms like the wine cellar downstairs and the bishop's room where he would sleep."
