Barnsdall Art Park, located at 4800 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, California, is a unique institution that combines an art gallery, park, and tourist attraction all in one. The park has a rich history, dating back to the early 1900s when Aline Barnsdall donated the land and its Frank Lloyd Wright designed structures to the city of Los Angeles. Her vision was to create an accessible arts center for the community, which has since become a hub for art programs and exhibits used by thousands of locals and visitors alike.
Managed by the Community Arts Division of the Cultural Affairs Department, Barnsdall Art Park offers a variety of programs including adult and youth art classes, museum education and tours, theatre programs, and cultural festivals throughout the year. The park's iconic Hollyhock House, along with the Municipal Art Gallery and Junior Arts Center, are popular attractions that showcase the cultural diversity of the community. Visit www.culturela.org for more information on the Cultural Affairs Department and the programs offered at Barnsdall Art Park.

"Surprisingly CALMING! The Barnsdall Art Park has a peaceful view of the Hollywood sign and Griffith Observatory combined with a sweet stretch of grass to lay on and enjoy solitude or a quiet picnic. This is definitely designed for decompression and chilling, not parties! It's a refreshing little park with an art gallery, art class area, and the Hollyhock House (a historical site from old Hollywood days). The bathrooms are clean the park is great for putting in your stair steps. Parking is limited, but not that bad. I really liked that there was a section of the park this is entirely shaded by large trees, it's great for nature lovers who want to be outdoors but not in the sun's crossfire. My gripe with the park is that some of the buildings are too industrial within and/or aged. No, I'm not talking about the historical sites or the art gallery! I'm talking about the buildings as you walk up the road (which are part of the park’s property) to the park. The good news is I'm thinking they're remodeling!"
"Great place to bring a picnic blanket or some chairs and hangout on the grass! Great views of the city. Pretty peaceful too! You'll see dogs, people reading, sunbathing, doing yoga, or having a picnic here. Parking was pretty easy to find! Park either at the bottom and walk up, or go closer up on the hill and park near the beginning or take a loop around the hill."
"Hidden gem in Los Angeles. The walkways near the art gallery transport you in time. You will appreciate the park for its natural beauty while appreciating the surrounding neighborhood of Los Angeles. The views are spectacular, and the art gallery is now open for free! Best place if you want quietness, inward reflection, and appreciation of L.A. life."
"We parked in the small lot at the entrance and there’s a stairway at the end to get to the park. If it’s full you’ll have to turn around and there’s a lot of parking going up and around the park. Lovely place to have a fairly quiet picnic. Lots of people there but plenty of space with a great view of Griffith, the Hollywood sign, and surrounding areas. There were a few porta potties as well. Very nice easy walk and dog friendly."
